Umayangana Wickramasinghe (born 24 October 1980 si, උමයංගනා වික්රමසිංහ) is an actress in Sri Lankan cinema, stage drama and television as well as a television host. She is best known for the role in television serials ''Ithin Ita Passe'' and ''Jeewithe Lassanai''. Personal life She was born on 24 October 1980 in Borella as the eldest of the family. Her father Sunil Wickramasinghe worked at the Sri Lanka Railways and mother Anula Kanthi Kumari worked at the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation. She has one younger brother, Mahesh Wickramasinghe. She completed primary education at Basilica Maha Vidyalaya, Ragama and then secondary education at St. Paul's Girls School in the Milagiriya district of Colombo. Sri Lankan cinema encompasses the Sri Lankan film industry. It is a fledgling industry that has struggled to find a footing since its inauguration in 1947 with '' Kadawunu Poronduwa'' produced by S. Milagiriya
Milagiriya is a district of Colombo city in Sri Lanka. The area took its name from the Sinhalised form of the Portuguese word ''milagre'' (miracle). The Portuguese built a Roman Catholic Church there. History The writer Frederick Mendis observed: "In 1656, after the capitulation to the Dutch, the Milagiriya church gave way to a Sinhalese school where instruction was made available in the religion of the Reformists. The headmaster of the school was the registrar of baptisms, marriages, and deaths. In 1848 the Rev. Joseph Thurstan was chiefly responsible for superintending the construction of the new church which was dedicated to St. Paul the Apostle."
