''Umabel'' was the debut EP release by Australian indie rock band Love Outside Andromeda, on Shock Records in 2003. It was recorded at Bootfull Audio by Matthew Dufty, and the cover art is by Matthew Chapman. Track listing Tracks 1, 2 and 4 were written by Sianna Lee; track 3 was written by Jamie Slocombe. Love Outside Andromeda
Love Outside Andromeda was an indie rock band from Melbourne, Australia. The band was formed in 2000 as Andromeda, and released their debut EP, ''Umabel'', in 2001. The title track from their second EP, ''Something White and Sigmund'', appeared on the Triple J Hottest 100 2003 at No. 65. The band changed their name to Love Outside Andromeda to avoid confusion with the Swedish band of the same name. The band have since released two studio albums; '' Love Outside Andromeda'' (2004) and '' Longing Was a Safe Place to Hide'' (2006), both on Shock records Shock Records (now part of Shock Entertainment) is an Australian independent record label. Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or "Pop rock, guitar pop rock". One of the primary scenes of the movement was Dunedin, where Dunedin sound, a cultural scene based around a convergence of noise pop and jangle became popular among the city's University of Otago, large student population. History The three founding members had all previously worked in music retail or distribution: Williams for a Melbourne distribution company called "Musicland", Falvo for Exposure Records and McGee for Greville Records. Shane O'Mara (musician)
Shane O'Mara is an Australian musician and record producer. He worked with Stephen Cummings as a member of Stephen Cummings' Lovetown, Good Humour and the Stephen Cummings Band and co-produced the albums ''A New Kind of Blue'' (1989), ''Good Humour'' (1991) and ''Unguided Tour'' (1992). He played with Chris Wilson in the Chris Wilson Band which released an EP, ''The Big One'', in May and a studio album, ''Landlocked'', in June 1992, and he backed Wilson in ''Live at the Continental'' (October 1994). He formed Rebecca's Empire with then partner Rebecca Barnard (also part of Cumming's backing bands). They released two albums, ''Way of All Things'' (1996) and ''Welcome'' (1999) (both produced by O'Mara) before breaking up in 2000. O'Mara supported Barnards solo career, co producing ''Fortified'' (2006) and assisting with the recording of ''Everlasting'' (2010). In the mid 90s he joined Paul Kelly's Band.
