Ulysses Guimarães Convention Center
The Ulysses Guimarães Convention Center (, CCUG), formerly the Brasília Convention Center () is a convention center located in Brasília. It was designed by Sérgio Bernandes in 1973 and was inaugurated on 12 March 1979, being refurbished in 2005. It was renamed in 1992 to honor Ulysses Guimarães. The convention center is part of Brasílias Cultural Diffusion Sector, in the Monumental Axis, along with the Brasília Planetarium and the Brasília Choro Club. Facilities The convention center is split into three wings, the west wing, the south wing, and the north wing. Ulysses Guimarães
Ulysses Silveira Guimarães ( 6 October 1916 – 12 October 1992) was a Brazilian politician and lawyer who played an important role in opposing the military dictatorship in Brazil and in the fight to restore democracy in the country. He died in a helicopter accident by the shore near Angra dos Reis, in the south of Rio de Janeiro state. Monumental Axis
The Monumental Axis () is the central and main avenue in Brasília's city design. The avenue begins on the National Congress of Brazil building and is considered part of the DF-002 road. Its first section is known as "Ministries Esplanade" (), as it is surrounded the buildings of government ministries. Many important government buildings, monuments, and memorials are located on the Monumental Axis. It is 16 kilometers long, beginning at the Rodoferroviária de Brasília, and ending at the Praça dos Três Poderes. It was created by Lúcio Costa during the construction of Brasília's Plano Piloto, connecting with the Highway Axis () at the Pilot Plan Bus Station. The Brasília Planetarium Luiz Cruls (), colloquially known as the Brasília Planetarium or the Planetarium of Brasília, is a planetarium located in Brasília, in the Federal District. Brasília TV Tower
The Brasília TV Tower () is a radio and television transmission tower built in Brasília and inaugurated in 1967 with a height of 224 meters. It is located at the Monumental Axis, in the Burle Marx Garden, and besides the tower itself, which has a belvedere and a museum, the Museum of Gems, its immediate surroundings have several attractions, such as the Fair Tower and the TV Tower Fountain, which makes the place one of the most visited by tourists, receiving from ten to twelve thousand people a week.
