Ultimates 2
''The Ultimates 2'' is a thirteen-issue comic book limited series written by Mark Millar with art by Bryan Hitch, the sequel to ''The Ultimates''. The series features the superhero team the Ultimates and was published by the Ultimate Marvel imprint of Marvel Comics. Publication history The series debuted in December 2004 and was completed in May 2007. Millar stated in Pop Culture Shock that this arc reflected contemporary issues, ranging from hyper-powered countries like the USA, preemptive strikes, the rising world-wide anti-American sentiment in the wake of the Neo-Conservative Bush Doctrine, and the "rogue nation" classification and the fear of backlash in form of nuclear Armageddon. Bryan Hitch
Bryan Hitch (born 22 April 1970) is a British comics artist and writer. Hitch began his career in the United Kingdom for Marvel UK, working on titles such as ''Action Force'' and ''Death's Head'', before gaining prominence on American titles such as Wildstorm's ''Stormwatch'' and '' The Authority'', DC Comics' '' JLA'', and Marvel Comics' ''The Ultimates''. Hitch's artwork and designs have appeared in direct-to-video animated films, television, and major feature films, such as the 2009 film ''Star Trek'', for which he has been praised by director J. J. Abrams. Early life Bryan Hitch was born 22 April 1970 in what he described as "in the far northern reaches of England." Preemptive War
A preemptive war is a war that is commenced in an attempt to repel or defeat a perceived imminent offensive or invasion, or to gain a strategic advantage in an impending (allegedly unavoidable) war ''shortly before'' that attack materializes. It is a war that preemptively 'breaks the peace'. The term 'preemptive war' is sometimes confused with the term ' preventive war'. The Ultimates 3
''The Ultimates 3'' was a five-issue, monthly comic book miniseries published in 2008 by Marvel Comics in the Ultimate Marvel imprint. Written by Jeph Loeb, and illustrated by Joe Madureira, it is a sequel to ''The Ultimates'' and ''The Ultimates 2'', as well as a prelude to ''Ultimatum''. A sequel entitled '' Ultimate Comics: New Ultimates'' was released in 2010 also written by Loeb. The series continues the stories of the Ultimates. History Silver Bullet Comicbooks The site was founded in January 2000 as Silver Bullet Comicbooks by its New Zealand-based publisher/editor Jason Brice. During this period, the site made efforts to support retired comics professionals. In the Ultimate Marvel universe, Thor (Thorlief Golmen) is a fictional superhero based on the Marvel Universe version of Thor.
