''Ultimate Basketball'' is an Nintendo Entertainment System, NES basketball video game. It was released in September 1990 in video gaming, 1990 by American Sammy. The game was later licensed by Taito and released in Japan as . This video game is completely unrelated to the Amiga video game of Ultimate Basketball (Amiga video game), same title and was represented on the American television series ''Video Power''. Gameplay The game plays like a conventional sports video game. The player chooses from a list of 7 teams, and controls five players on the team on the court, though only one player may be directly controlled at a time. There is a championship mode and a single game mode in the game. The game is unlike later sports based video games in that doesn't use real professional basketball, professional or college basketball, college basketball players. Aicom was a Japanese video game developer, founded in 1988, possibly by a group that left Jaleco . Despite evidence to support this, the Sammy corporate website lists 1990 as the first year and that it was a subsidiary. It was bought by Sammy Industry in 1992. Their games include ''The Mafat Conspiracy'', ''Totally Rad'' and '' Vice: Project Doom'' on the Nintendo Entertainment System, '' Blaster Master Boy'' for the Game Boy and '' Pulstar'' for Neo Geo.
