Ulrika Ã…berg
Ulrika Åberg (1771–1852) was a Swedish ballerina. She was active in the Royal Swedish Ballet in 1782-95. She was one of the first native ballet dancers in the Royal Swedish Ballet. Life Ulrika Åberg was engaged as a Coryfé in the Royal Swedish Ballet in 1782-85, as a second dancer in 1785-87, and as a premier ballerina in 1787-95. She was a student of the star ballerina of the Gustavian ballet, the Italian ballerina Giovanna Bassi, from the age of twelve. She was educated in the Italian style of ballet dancing by Bassi, and followed her mentor in her style and parts. She was considered as one of her country's first native ballet dancers. Her most popular part was in the ballet ''Tillfälle för Tjuven'', where she made a success. Royal Swedish Ballet
The Royal Swedish Ballet is one of the oldest ballet companies in Europe. Based in Stockholm, Sweden, King Gustav III founded the ballet in 1773 as a part of his national cultural project in response to the French and Italian dominance in this field; he also founded the Royal Swedish Opera and the Royal Dramatic Theatre. All of these were initially located in the old theatre of Bollhuset. The troupe was founded with the opening of the Royal Swedish Opera, which has served as its home since that time. Giovanna Bassi
Giovanna Bassi (1762–1834) was an Italian ballerina who spent the majority of her career in Sweden. She was regarded as the prima donna of the Swedish Ballet during the Gustav III of Sweden, Gustavian age. Biography Giovanna Bassi was born in Italy as the daughter of the Italian ballet dancer Angela Bassi. She was the sister of the architect Charles Bassi, Charles (Carlo) Bassi (1772–1840), who lived active in Sweden and Finland, where he had been raised since the age of eleven. She was the student of Jean Dauberval and debuted on the stage of the opera in Paris in France. Antoine Bournonville
Antoine Bournonville (19 May 1760 – 11 January 1843) was a French ballet dancer a choreographer, active in the Royal Swedish Ballet and the Royal Danish Ballet and eventually ballet master in the latter. He is considered to have played a great role in the development of the ballet in Scandinavia. He was the father of August Bournonville. Early life Bournonville was the son of the actors Louis-Amable Bournonville and Jeanne Evrard, born as the twin of his brother Guillame. Louis Deland
Louis Joseph Marie Deland (25 April 1772 – 15 April 1823) was a Swedish ballet dancer, singer, actor, choreographer and ballet master in the Royal Swedish Ballet. He is often considered the first native male star in the Royal Swedish Ballet. Life and career Louis Deland was the son of Louise-Antoine Deland from Luxembourg, the hair dresser, parfymeuse and footman of the Swedish queen, Sophia Magdalena of Denmark.
