Ulrich Eichhorn
Ulrich Eichhorn (born 1961) is a German engineer, manager and Automotive design, car designer. Early life and education Eichhorn was born in Obernburg, Germany. He studied Mechanical engineering, mechanical and automotive engineering at Technische Universität Darmstadt. In 1992, he graduated with a doctorate in mechanical engineering from Darmstadt. He is also an alumnus of Harvard Business School, where he was class speaker of AMP174. Career Eichhorn worked at Ford Motor Company, becoming head of vehicle dynamics and leading several individual projects. He was involved in designing the first generation Ford Focus (first generation), Ford Focus, where he worked on the chassis. He joined Volkswagen Group as director of research in 2000. Obernburg
Obernburg am Main (officially ''Obernburg a.Main'', short version: ''Obernburg,'' ) is a town in the Miltenberg district in the ''Regierungsbezirk'' of Lower Franconia (''Unterfranken'') in Bavaria, Germany. It has a population of around 8,500. Geography Location Obernburg lies at the mouth of the river Mümling, where it empties into the Main, at the foot of the Odenwald (range). The German Association of the Automotive Industry or VDA (german: Verband der Automobilindustrie e. Tour De Sol
The Tour de Sol in Switzerland was the first rally for solar powered vehicles. It was carried out annually from 1985 to 1993. The first event started on June 25 in Romanshorn on the Lake of Constance, and finished on June 30 in Geneva. 72 vehicles started in two classes; over 50 finished. The vehicles were powered exclusively by direct onboard solar power in addition to an initial charge of the onboard accumulators. The second class also allowed direct human power with pedals. The rally was conceived as a kind of race with the winners being those using the least time to travel the set course each day. The course was on unclosed public roads and the drivers were required to adhere all traffic rules and speed limits. The first events were very popular with thousands of spectators lining the roads and visiting the camps where the vehicles stopped each day. The Bentley Flying Spur is a full-sized high-performance luxury saloon produced by Bentley Motors Limited since 2005. It is the four-door grand tourer variant of the Bentley Continental GT coupé. The Flying Spur is handcrafted at Bentley's factory in Crewe, England. Each bespoke saloon takes more than 100 hours to assemble completely by hand. The Volkswagen W12 was a series of concept cars created by Volkswagen Passenger Cars in 1997.
