Ulen Historic District, also known as Country Club Addition, is a national historic district located at Ulen, Boone County, Indiana. The district encompasses 53 contributing buildings, 2 contributing sites, 1 contributing structure, and 4 contributing objects in an upscale suburban area near Indianapolis and next to the Ulen Country Club and golf course. The golf course was the first designed by Bill Diddel. The district developed between about 1924 and 1963, and includes representative examples of Colonial Revival, Tudor Revival, Mediterranean Revival, and Ranch Style architecture. Ulen is a town in Center Township, Boone County, in the U.S. state of Indiana. The population was 117 at the 2010 census. The town is surrounded by the city of Lebanon. History The Ulen Country Club was established in 1924 and Ulen was incorporated as a town in 1929. It was named for Henry Ulen, an industrialist. Boone County is a county in the U.S. state of Indiana. As of 2020, the population was 70,812. The county seat (and the county's only incorporated city) is Lebanon. The Colonial Revival architectural style seeks to revive elements of American colonial architecture. The beginnings of the Colonial Revival style are often attributed to the Centennial Exhibition of 1876, which reawakened Americans to the architectural traditions of their colonial past. Tudor Revival Architecture
Tudor Revival architecture (also known as mock Tudor in the UK) first manifested itself in domestic architecture in the United Kingdom in the latter half of the 19th century. Based on revival of aspects that were perceived as Tudor architecture, in reality it usually took the style of English vernacular architecture of the Middle Ages that had survived into the Tudor period.
