Ulavuthurai
''Ulavuthurai'' is a 1998 Tamil-language action crime film directed by Ramesh Selvan. The film stars Vijayakanth, Meena and Sanghavi, with Radha Ravi, Janagaraj, Carlos, Jassi Singh, and Hemanth Ravan, among others, play supporting roles. The film, produced by Vijay Prabhakaran, had musical score by newcomer Shah and was released on 14 January 1998. The film was Vijayakanth's 125th film. Plot Several people die mysteriously in the sea, so the navy looks for its best officer Vasanth Periyasamy (Vijayakanth) to investigate the case. Vasanth Periyasamy changes his identity into Krishnamoorthy. He is now a car driver and lives in disguise for his family's sake. In the past, he was married to the illiterate Meena (Meena) and has a daughter named Priya (Baby Jennifer). One day, a terrorist (Hemanth Ravan) kidnapped Meena and threatened to kill her if Vasanth Periyasamy does not release his partners in jail. Ramesh Selvan is an Indian film director, who has made Tamil films. Career Ramesh Selvan made his debut as a film maker with the action film ''Ulavuthurai'' (1998) starring Vijayakanth in lead role before making the revenge drama ''Jananam'' (2003) starring Arun Vijay. He then began directing a project titled ''Runway'' with Prashanth, but after a few schedules it had run into financial problems. Ramesh announced that he would be making a comeback in early 2010, revealing that he was working a project titled ''Kalavaram'' with Sathyaraj in the lead role. ''Kalavaram'' was revealed to be based on a true story, that of the biggest riot that has ever taken place in Tamil Nadu, with Sathyaraj playing a deputy police commissioner who heads an investigation commission. Fathima Babu is a South Indian actress, former newsreader and socialite based out of Chennai who hails from Puducherry. Ibrahim Rowther was an Veteran Indian film producer and writer who had worked on Tamil language films. He produced films under the studios Rowther Films, Tamilannai Cine Creation and IV Cine International. Career Ibrahim Rowther launched his first film, ''Uzhavan Magan'' in 1987 to promote his friend Vijayakanth as an actor in the Tamil film industry.
