During the occupation of Ukraine by Nazi Germany, its Jewish community was subject to persecution and deportation to extermination camps. During World War II, (abbreviated as RKU) was the civilian occupation regime () of much of Nazi German-occupied Ukraine (which included adjacent areas of modern-day Belarus and pre-war Second Polish Republic). It was governed by the Reich Ministry for the Occupied Eastern Territories headed by Alfred Rosenberg. Between September 1941 and August 1944, the Reichskommissariat was administered by Erich Koch as the . ''Word of the Righteous'' is a 2017 documentary series directed and produced by journalists Svitlana Levitas and Margarita Yakovleva, co-authors of a Ukrainian-Israeli-US project dedicated to the Righteous Among the Nations. Yurii Sokolov
Yurii Dmitrievich Sokolov (russian: Ю́рий Дми́триевич Соколо́в; May 26, 1896 – February 2, 1971) was a Soviet Ukrainian mathematician. Biography Sokolov was born on May 26, 1896, in Labinskaya Stanitsa (now Labinsk), Russia. He studied at Kiev Institute of Peoples Education and graduated in 1921. He taught at the Applied Mathematics Division of the Academy. He completed his PhD from Kiev University. His doctorate advisor was Dmitry Grave. His doctorate thesis was in the area of mechanics of particles. After completing his PhD, Sokolov taught at the Institute of Mathematics at the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. He also taught at many other institutions in Kiev. Sokolov died on February 2, 1971, in Kiev, Ukraine, USSR. Research Sokolov did research on the ''n''-body problem for nearly 50 years. Alexej Alexandrovich Glagolev (Russian: Алексей Алекса́ндрович Глаго́лев; – 23 January 1972) was a Ukrainian Orthodox priest, honoured as one of the Righteous Among the Nations. Family and education Alexej Glagolev was born to the family of Alexander Glagolev, the priest and professor of Kiev Theological Academy. His father died in Kiev prison in 1937. His mother, Zinaida Petrovna (née Slesarskaya) was a daughter of the head librarian of Kiev Theological Academy. He had a brother named Sergei and a sister named Varvara. Alexej graduated with distinction from a high school in Kiev. Between 1919 and 1923 he studies at the Kiev Theological Academy. Throughout this period the Academy was shut by Bolsheviks and worked illegally. In 1926 he married Tatiana Pavlovna, née Bulashevich, a daughter of the owner of the sugar plant.
