Ukraine In The Eurovision Song Contest 2009
Ukraine participated in Eurovision Song Contest 2009 with the song "Be My Valentine! (Anti-Crisis Girl)" written by Evheniy Matyushenko and Svetlana Loboda. The song was performed by Svetlana Loboda. The Ukrainian broadcaster National Television Company of Ukraine (NTU) organised a national final in order to select the Ukrainian entry for the 2009 contest in Moscow, Russia. The national selection consisted of a semi-final, held on 21 February 2009, and a final, held on 8 March 2009; thirty-one entries competed in the semi-final with the top fifteen advancing to the final. In the final, "Be My Valentine!" performed by Svetlana Loboda was selected as the winner following the combination of votes from a seven-member jury panel and a public televote. Svitlana Serhiivna Loboda ( uk, Світлана Сергіївна Лобода; born 18 October 1982), also known by the stage name LOBODA, is a Ukrainian singer and composer. Loboda represented Ukraine in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 and finished in 12th place with 76 points. Anastasia Kostyantynivna Prikhodko ( uk, Анастасія Костянтинівна Приходько, Anastasiya Kostyantynivna Prykhodko; born 21 April 1987) is a Ukrainian activist, politician and former singer-songwriter. Known for her deep contralto singing voice and blend of folk rock and pop music, Prikhodko announced that she would be ending her music career in order to enter politics in October 2018. Petr Petrovich Elfimov ( be, Пётр Ялфімаў, ''Piotr Jalfimaŭ'', russian: Пётр Елфимов, ''Pyotr Yelfimov'') is a singer from Belarus who represented his nation at the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 in Moscow, Russia. Belarus participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 with the song "Eyes That Never Lie" written by Petr Elfimov and Valery Prokhozhy. The song was performed by Petr Elfimov. The Belarusian entry for the 2009 contest in Moscow, Russia was selected through the national final ''Eurofest 2009'', organised by the Belarusian broadcaster National State Television and Radio Company of the Republic of Belarus (BTRC). The national final was a televised production which consisted of a semi-final and a final held on 15 December 2008 and 19 January 2009, respectively. Oleksandr Ponomariov ( ua, Олександр Пономарьов; born August 9, 1973) is a Ukrainian singer. He has been awarded the country's "Singer of the Year" seven times. Ponomariov was born in Khmelnytskyi, Ukraine. One of his early interests was boxing. When his eyesight started to deteriorate he was forbidden to fight by his doctor. While he had always enjoyed singing, he never thought that music could be his main occupation. Despite this, he applied to a music college where he encountered one drawback: he could not read music. The college professors accepted him on the basis of his excellent singing voice and allowed him to stay on the condition that he master the school's seven-year curriculum in the space of one year. Timur Valeriyovych Miroshnychenko ( Ukrainian: Тімур Валерійович Мірошниченко) (born 9 March 1986) is a Ukrainian TV presenter for the channel UA:PBC.
