Ukazi Soup
Ukazi or Okazi (wild spinach) soup is an Igbo soup similar to Afang soup of the Efik tribe; the difference between the two is that Afang is thicker than Okasi aside the peculiarity to each tribe. The soup is made majorly from two leaves: okazi and water leaf. Some ingredients used in making the soup include palm oil, egusi balls (mgbam), crayfish and seasoning cubes. Okazi soup can be eaten with swallows such as eba, Semo and pounded yam. Hydrophylloideae
Hydrophylloideae is a subfamily of the plant family Boraginaceae. Their taxonomic position is somewhat uncertain. Afang soup (not to be misconstrued for Okazi soup or Ukazi soup, a soup from the Igbo cuisine), is a vegetable soup that originates from the Efik people of the Efik kingdom in Cross River State and the Ibibio People of Akwa Ibom in Southern Nigeria. It is a dish popularly known by Nigerians and also some parts of Africa. Efik Tribe
The Efik are an ethnic group located primarily in southern Nigeria, and western Cameroon. Within Nigeria, the Efik can be found in the present-day Cross River State and Akwa Ibom state. The Efik speak the Efik language which is a member of the Benue–Congo subfamily of the Niger-Congo language group. Pounded yam or Iyán (Yoruba) is a Nigerian swallow food native to the Yoruba, Igbo, Ebira and Tiv ethnic groups. It is a traditional food.
