Ugyen Academy (UA)
Ugyen Academy (UA) is a private school and it is located in Punakha, Bhutan, for classes VII-XII. History Ugyen Academy opened on 3 April 2002 with 154 students. The school was founded by His Excellency ''Yab Dasho'' Ugyen Dorji (father of the four Queen Mothers Dorji Wangmo, Tshering Pem, Tshering Yangdon and Sangay Choden Wangchuck of Bhutan and the former prime minister, ''Lyonpo'' Sangay Ngedup). It started as a pet project of the honorable ''Dasho Yab'' Ugyen Dorji (1925–2019) and ''Yum'' Thinley Choden. It was a wish fulfilled for the local people and a hope for the students who did not meet the government cutoff point. The school made steady progress, and the enrollment rose year by year. Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck
Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck ( dz, འཇིགས་མེད་གེ་སར་རྣམ་རྒྱལ་དབང་ཕྱུག་, ; born 21 February 1980) is the Druk Gyalpo ( Dzongkha: Dragon King) of the Kingdom of Bhutan. After his father Jigme Singye Wangchuck abdicated the throne in his favor, he became the monarch on 9 December 2006. A public coronation ceremony was held on 6 November 2008, a year that marked 100 years of monarchy in Bhutan. Early life and education Khesar was born 21 February 1980 at Paropakar Maternity and Women's Hospital in Kathmandu. Ugyen Academy FC
Ugyen Academy Football Club is a Bhutanese professional football club based in Punakha that competes in the Bhutan Premier League, the top level of Bhutanese football. They won the Bhutan National League title in 2013 and represented Bhutan in the 2014 AFC President's Cup. History Ugyen Academy's first appearance in the national league was in the 2012–13 season, where they finished third behind eventual champions Yeedzin and Drukpol, and were involved in the season's highest scoring game, an 8–1 victory over Samtse. The following season they won the Bhutan National League, one point above Yeedzin, losing only once, 4–2 to Thimphu City. By winning the national league, Ugyen Academy were awarded Bhutan's berth in the 2014 AFC President's Cup, their first appearance in any form of continental competition. Bhutan Premier League
The Bhutan Premier League, currently known as the Bank of Bhutan Premier League due to sponsorship reasons, is the men's highest division of professional football in Bhutan. It also provides Bhutan's entrant for continental competition, the AFC Cup. Format The Bhutan Premier League operates as the highest level of football in Bhutan. Competing teams in the league play each other twice on a home and away basis. Previously, when the A-Division was the country's top league, all matches were played at Changlimithang, the country's national stadium, making home and away distinctions essentially moot. Whilst the Thimphu-based teams still play their matches at that ground, the regional teams maintain their own stadiums, so that genuine home and away fixtures now take place. Cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Swimming is an individual or team racing sport that requires the use of one's entire body to move through water. The sport takes place in pools or open water (e.g., in a sea or lake). Competitive swimming is one of the most popular Olympic sports, with varied distance events in butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle, and individual medley. In addition to these individual events, four swimmers can take part in either a freestyle or medley relay. Volleyball
Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. It has been a part of the official program of the Summer Olympic Games since Tokyo 1964. Beach volleyball was introduced to the programme at the Atlanta 1996.
