Ugly Betty
''Ugly Betty'' is an American comedy-drama television series developed by Silvio Horta, which was originally broadcast on ABC. It premiered on September 28, 2006, and ended on April 14, 2010. The series is based on Fernando Gaitán's Colombian telenovela ''Yo soy Betty, la fea'', which has had many other international adaptations. It revolves around the character Betty Suarez, whodespite her lack of stylelands a job at a prestigious fashion magazine. It was produced by Silent H, Ventanarosa, and Reveille Productions partnered with ABC Studios, with Salma Hayek, Horta, Ben Silverman, Jose Tamez, and Joel Fields serving as executive producers. Ventanarosa is a production company formally founded by Salma Hayek in 1999. Its Spanish language translation literally means "rose-colored window" or "pink window." Ventanarosa's first feature film was '' El Coronel No Tiene Quien le Escriba'' based on the Gabriel García Márquez novel of the same name. The film was Mexico's official selection for submission to the Best Foreign Film category at the Academy Awards and was directed by Arturo Ripstein. In 1999, Ricka Fisher, who was head of Disney Telefilms, joined Ventanarosa as president of the studio. Silvercup Studios
Silvercup Studios is one of the largest film and television production facilities in New York City. The studio is located in Long Island City, Queens, with another facility in the Port Morris, Bronx, Port Morris neighborhood of the Bronx. The studio complex has been operating since 1983 in the former Silvercup Bakery building. It was founded by brothers Alan and Stuart Suna.
