Udi Aloni
Udi Aloni ( he, אודי אלוני; born December 10, 1959) is an Israeli American filmmaker, writer, visual artist and political activist whose works focus on the interrelationships between art, theory, and action. Biography Udi Aloni is the son of Reuven and Shulamit Aloni. He has two brothers: Dror Aloni, who served as mayor of Kfar Shmaryahu and head of Herzliya Hebrew Gymnasium, and Nimrod Aloni, an educational philosopher. He was married to Sigal Primor with whom he has a daughter, Yuli. Art career Aloni began his career as a painter, establishing the Bugrashov gallery in Tel Aviv, a home for contemporary art, cultural and political events. Ras Jua Baraka (born April 9, 1970) is an American educator, author, and politician who is the 40th and current Mayor of Newark, New Jersey. He was previously a member of the Municipal Council of Newark and the principal of the city's Central High School until he took an indefinite leave of absence to run for the 2014 Newark mayoral election, which he won on May 13, 2014. Amiri Baraka (born Everett Leroy Jones; October 7, 1934 – January 9, 2014), previously known as LeRoi Jones and Imamu Amear Baraka, was an American writer of poetry, drama, fiction, essays and music criticism. Tamer Nafar ( ar, تامر النفار, he, תאמר נפאר; born June 6, 1979) is an Israeli rapper, actor, screenwriter and social activist who identifies as Palestinian. He is the leader and a founding member of DAM, the first Palestinian hip hop group. Early life Nafar was born to Fawzi Nafar and Nadia Awadi. It was shown in the Panorama section at the 66th Berlin International Film Festival where it won the Audience Award. Plot Karim, a young Arab from Lod, works for the Execution Office's Customer Service, and lives among drug dealers in the Middle East drug capital, but dreams of being a musician. DAM (band)
DAM ( ar, دام) is a Palestinian hip-hop group. DAM was founded in 1999 by brothers Tamer and Suhell Nafar and their friend Mahmoud Jreri. Their songs are largely about racism, freedom, Israeli occupation and poverty . DAM raps primarily in Arabic, but also in English. DAM has released more than 100 singles and three albums—''Dedication'', ''Dabke on the Moon'' and ''Ben Haana Wa Maana''—as well as an EP—Street Poetry. DAM's lyrics are largely protest-driven, and their songs were centering around fighting against oppression, Israeli occupation, racism, poverty, drugs, and for women's rights. The Berlin International Film Festival (german: Internationale Filmfestspiele Berlin), usually called the Berlinale (), is a major international film festival held annually in Berlin, Germany.
