Uddhav Thapa (Nepali: उद्धव थापा; born 30 November 1958) is a Nepalese politician, belonging to the Nepali Congress. He has served twice within a month as the chief minister of Koshi Province, from 7 July 2023 to 2 August 2023, from 2 August 2023 to 8 September 2023. Thapa was elected parliamentary party leader of the Nepali Congress on 30 December 2022. Khas People
Khas people (; ne, खस) popularly known as Khas Arya are an Indo-Aryan peoples, Indo-Aryan ethno-linguistic group native to the Himalayas, Himalayan region of South Asia, what is now present-day Nepal, Indian states of Uttarakhand, West Bengal and Sikkim. Historically, Khas were the speakers of an ancient ''Khas language'' from the Indo-Aryan language family and the earliest recorded speakers of the Western Pahari languages. The large portion of the Indo-Aryan speakers throughout lower Himalayas were the Khas people. 2022 Nepalese Provincial Elections
Provincial assembly elections were held in Nepal on 20 November 2022 along with the general election. 330 seats in the seven provincial assemblies will be elected by first-past-the-post voting and 220 by proportional representation. Electoral system The 550 members of the provincial assemblies will be elected by two methods; 330 will be elected from single-member constituencies by first-past-the-post voting and 220 seats will be elected by closed list proportional representation for parties gathering more than 1.5% of the votes. Each voter will get separate ballot papers for the two methods.
