Udaya Wickramasinghe
Wickrama Arachchige Udaya Wickramasinghe (12 August 1939 – 12 April 2010) was a Sri Lankan cricket umpire. Wickramasinghe was born in Matugama in Sri Lanka. He was educated at St Peter's College and Dharmapala College, and worked as an Immigration Officer in the Immigration Department in Sri Lanka. His cricket umpiring career began in 1969 in Sri Lankan domestic cricket. He served as an umpire in international cricket from 1987 to 1998. He was the first overseas umpire to qualify as an official instructor of the Association of Cricket Umpires and Scorers in England in 1988. He stood as an umpire in three Tests, all played in Sri Lanka and all of which were drawn. Umpire
An umpire is an official in a variety of sports and competition, responsible for enforcing the rules of the sport, including sportsmanship decisions such as ejection. The term derives from the Old French nonper, ''non'', "not" and ''per'', "equal": "one who is requested to act as arbiter of a dispute between two people". (as evidenced in cricket, where dismissal decisions can only be made on appeal). Noumper shows up around 1350 before undergoing a linguistic shift known as false splitting. It was written in 1426–1427 as a noounpier; the ''n'' was lost with the ''a'' indefinite article becoming ''an''. Mohammad Azharuddin
Mohammad Azharuddin (born 8 February 1963) is an Indian politician and a former international cricketer and former captain of India national cricket team. He is the working president of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee and was the Member of Parliament (India), member of parliament for Moradabad (Lok Sabha Constituency), Moradabad. He played 99 Test cricket, Test matches and 334 One Day Internationals for the Indian national cricket team before his international career came to an end after he was found to have been involved in a South Africa cricket match fixing, match fixing scandal in 2000 and subsequently banned by the Board of Control for Cricket in India for life. This is a list of cricket umpires who have officiated at least one men's One Day International (ODI) match. As of October 2022, 418 umpires have officiated in an ODI match. The first ODI match took place on 5 January 1971 between Australia and England at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The umpires for this game were Tom Brooks and Lou Rowan. In April 2019, Claire Polosak became the first woman to stand in men's ODI match, when she was one of the on-field umpires for the final of the 2019 ICC World Cricket League Division Two tournament. Three umpires, Rudi Koertzen of South Africa, Billy Bowden of New Zealand and Aleem Dar of Pakistan, have officiated in 200 or more ODI matches. A hat-trick in cricket is when a bowler takes three wickets on consecutive deliveries, dismissing three different batsmen. It is a relatively rare event in One Day International (ODI) cricket with only 49 occurrences in 4222 matches since the first ODI match between Australia and England on 5 January 1971. Aaqib Javed (Urdu: ; born 5 August 1972) is a Pakistani cricket coach and former cricketer. He was a right-handed fast-medium pace bowler with the ability to swing the ball both ways. Ravi Shastri
Ravishankar Jayadritha Shastri (born 27 May 1962) is the former head coach of the India national cricket team, a cricket commentator and former captain of Indian Cricket Team. As a player, he played for the India national cricket team between 1981 and 1992 in both Test matches and One Day Internationals. Although he started his career as a left arm spin bowler, he later transformed into a batting all-rounder. As a cricketer, Shastri was essentially defensive with his trademark "chapati shot" (a flick off the pads), but he could raise his strike rate when required. Due to his above-average height (he stood 6' 3" tall) and an upright stance, he had a limited number of shots against fast bowling, but was able to put the lofted shot to good use against spin bowling.
