Uali Kurzhev
Uali Kurzhev (born 24 April 1989) is a Russian judoka, sambo practitioner and submission grappler. He is the gold medallist of the 2015 Judo Grand Slam Tyumen in the -73 kg category, and a three-time Sambo world champion. Career Uali Kurzhev was born on 28 April 1989, he is from the republic of Karachay-Cherkessia. Kurzhev is a three-time sambo world champion, having won the 74 kg title in 2011, 2012 & 2019. He also won the European Championships in 2013 and the 2013 Summer Universiade. In Judo he won bronze at the 2014 Tyumen Grand Slam, then gold at the 2015 edition. At the 2016 Tashkent Grand Prix he won bronze, gold at the 2016 Qingdao Grand Prix, bronze at the 2017 Zagreb Grand Prix as well at the 2017 Tbilisi Grand Prix. He also won a bronze at the 2018 Ekaterinburg Grand Slam. Submission Wrestling
Submission wrestling, also known as Submission grappling, Submission fighting a form of competition and a general term for martial arts and combat sports that focus on clinch and ground fighting with the aim of obtaining a submission through the use of submission holds. The term "submission wrestling" usually refers only to the form of competition and training that does not use a '' gi'', or "combat kimono", of the sort often worn with belts that establish rank by color, though some may use the loose trousers of such a uniform, without the jacket. Not using a gi has a major impact on the sport : there are many choke techniques which make use of the lapels of the gi, thus rendering them un-usable and grappling in general becomes more difficult when the opponent doesn't have a gi to grab hold of. European Sambo Championships
The European Sambo Championships is the main sambo championships in Europe, organized by European Sambo Federation. The first championship was held in 1972 in Riga. Ukraine plans to boycott the 2022 European Sambo Championships because Russian and Belarusian athletes will be allowed to compete with neutral status.
