US Oyonnax
Union sportive Oyonnax Rugby is a French rugby union club from Oyonnax in the Ain département of the région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, currently playing in Rugby Pro D2, the second division of the country's National Rugby League (France), professional rugby system. They play at Stade Charles-Mathon (capacity 11,400). They wear black and red. History They were founded in 1909 as ''Club Sportif Oyonnaxien'' and were renamed ''Union Sportive Oyonaxienne'' in 1940, as sports clubs were forced to unite by the Vichy government, Vichy régime. Oyonnax played in the regional leagues until 1967 when they joined the First Division (64 clubs). They were relegated to the lower divisions a few years later and bounced back to Group B of the First Division (the Second Division in fact) in 1988. Finally, in 2003 they reached the Fédérale 1 final and although they went down to Limoges (18-20), they moved on to the professional Rugby Pro D2, Pro D2. Oyonnax () is the second most populated commune in the Ain department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in eastern France. Oyonnax lies in a valley of the Jura Mountains in the far north of Ain. It is near the Parc naturel régional du Haut-Jura. The city is on the river Ange. Its prominence in the plastics industry has earned it the name ''Plastics Valley''. Luke John Hamilton (born 7 January 1992) is a Scottish international rugby union player who plays back row for Oyonnax. He has previously played for Cardiff Blues and Edinburgh in the Pro14, Agen in France's Top 14 and Leicester Tigers in Premiership Rugby. Career Born in Pembrokeshire, Wales, Hamilton came through the academy at the Scarlets before moving to the Cardiff Blues, making his professional debut for the club in the 2010–11 season against Exeter in the Anglo-Welsh Cup. Valentin Niculae Ursache (born 12 August 1985 in Târgu Neamt) is a Romanian former rugby union player. Ursache played in Romania for Contor Zenner Arad, Steaua Bucharest and CSM Baia Mare. He also played in France for Pays d'Aix RC and Oyonnax, from where he retired in June 2022. Ursache has 55 caps for Romania, since his debut at 26 June 2004, in the historical 25-24 win over Italy, in Bucharest, in a test match. Tom Murday (born 24 April 1989) is an Australian rugby union footballer. He is currently signed to the French club Agen and previously played for the Queensland Reds in the Super Rugby competition. His usual position is lock, however he can also play in the backrow. Early life Murday was raised in Mossman in North Queensland, and he played junior club rugby for the Port Douglas Reef Raiders as a teenager.
