Union Sportive Dudelange was a football club from Dudelange in southern Luxembourg, and the predecessor of Luxembourg's second tier team F91 Dudelange. History The team was founded in 1912 as a merger between Minerva Dudelange and Jeunesse de la Frontière 1908 Dudelange. Under German occupation in World War II, its name was changed to SV Düdelingen as part of the Germanisation program. The team was strongest in the late 1930s and 1940s. They won the Luxembourg Cup in 1939 and came runners-up in the Luxembourg National Division four times, reaching another cup final in 1958. In 1991, the team merged with Alliance Dudelange and Stade Dudelange into the current F91 Dudelange. Dudelange
Dudelange (; lb, Diddeleng , german: Düdelingen) is a commune with town status in southern Luxembourg. It is the fourth-most populous commune, with 19,734 inhabitants. Dudelange is situated close to the border with France. , the town of Dudelange, which lies in the centre of the commune, has a population of 19,734, making it Luxembourg's third-most populous town. The commune also includes the smaller town of Budersberg, to the north-west. The Mont Saint-Jean, close to Budersberg, hosts the ruins of a medieval castle. F91 Dudelange (; lb, F91 Diddeleng, italic=no, ) is a Luxembourger professional football club based in Dudelange which plays in the Luxembourg National Division. It was formed in 1991 as a merger between three teams in the town: Alliance Dudelange, Stade Dudelange and US Dudelange. Domestically, it has since won the National Division on 15 occasions and the Luxembourg Cup eight times. F91 Dudelange qualified for the 2018–19 UEFA Europa League, becoming the first club from the country to reach the group stage of a European competition. The National Division ( lb, Nationaldivisioun, french: Division Nationale, german: Nationaldivision) is the highest football league in Luxembourg. Until 2011, it was known as the BGL Ligue, after the Luxembourg Football Federation managed to seal a sponsorship deal with Fortis. Alliance Dudelange
Club Sportif Alliance Dudelange was a football club from Dudelange in southern Luxembourg. It was founded in 1916 as a merger between Étoile Rouge Dudelange (1908) and Étoile Bleue Dudelange (1912). Under German occupation in World War II, its name was changed to FV Rot-Schwarz Düdelingen as part of the Germanisation program. The club was associated with the city's Italian community. Louis Rech, the first Luxembourgish mayor of Italian origin, was also its president. The team had its greatest decade in the 1960s. They won back-to-back Luxembourg Cups in 1961 and 1962 runners-up in the Luxembourg National Division in the latter year, reaching a third cup final in 1969. Stade Dudelange was a football club from Dudelange, in southern Luxembourg. It is now a part of F91 Dudelange, which was formed by the merger of Stade, Alliance Dudelange, and US Dudelange in 1991. Stade was one of the country's most successful clubs, winning 10 National Division championships and four Luxembourg Cup titles; to this day, the former is the third-greatest haul by any club behind Jeunesse Esch and the defunct CA Spora Luxembourg. In its heyday of the late 1940s, Stade won four consecutive National Division titles.
