USS Defiant (NX-74205)
The USS ''Defiant'' is the name of several starships in the Star Trek media franchise, most notably a vessel featured in ''Star Trek: Deep Space Nine'' (1993–1999). Introduced in the show's third season, it is a warship attached to the show's eponymous space station. The spacecraft was designed by Jim Martin, Gary Hutzel and Tony Meinger. Design and development For the first two seasons of ''Deep Space Nine'', stories requiring characters to travel off-station typically involved small runabout vessels. Producer Ira Steven Behr and writer Robert Hewitt Wolfe believed runabouts would be insufficient to confront the adversarial Dominion introduced in the second season, and they convinced executive producer Rick Berman of the need for a new ship. The Tholian Web
"The Tholian Web" is the ninth episode of the third season of the American science fiction television series ''Star Trek''. Written by Judy Burns and Chet Richards and directed by Herb Wallerstein, it was first broadcast on November 15, 1968. In the episode, Captain Kirk is caught between dimensions while the crew of the ''Enterprise'' works to retrieve him. All the while, the Tholians are weaving a destructive energy web around the ''Enterprise''. Plot The starship USS ''Enterprise'' enters an uncharted region of space searching for her sister ship, the USS ''Defiant''. Sensors detect fractures in space, and a power loss affects all systems. Deep Space Nine (fictional Space Station)
Deep Space Nine (DS9; previously Terok Nor) is a fictional space station, the eponymous primary setting of the American science fiction television series '' Star Trek: Deep Space Nine'' which aired from 1993 to 1999. It serves as a base for the exploration of the Gamma Quadrant via the Bajoran wormhole and is a hub of trade and travel for the sector's denizens. It is run by a joint crew of Starfleet and Bajoran officers and it is the home port of a number of Starfleet runabouts, as well as the starship USS ''Defiant''. Benjamin Lafayette Sisko is a fictional character in the ''Star Trek'' franchise portrayed by Avery Brooks. He first appeared in the television series '' Star Trek: Deep Space Nine'' (''DS9'') and became prominent on the TV show in the United States between 1993-1999.
