USA Vs Al-Arian
''USA vs AL-ARIAN'' is 2007 documentary film about Sami Al-Arian and his family during and after his federal trial on terrorism-related charges. It was directed by the Norwegian director Line Halvorsen. According to the ''St. Petersburg Times'', the film "glosses over the specific charges, and pays scant attention to the evidence." However '' Variety'' notes that, "Though unquestionably biased, eye-opening docu "USA vs Al-Arian" throws the spotlight on a justice system shanghaied by the Patriot Act, leaving a deeply sympathetic family frayed but not quite broken." Line Halvorsen (born 1969) is a Norwegian film maker. She was educated at the University of Trondheim and in the documentary film department at Volda University College. She has directed and edited more than 20 documentaries and travel films since 1997. Sami Amin Al-Arian ( ar, سامي أمين العريان; born January 14, 1958) is a Kuwaiti-born Islamist and political activist of unverified Palestinian origin who was a computer engineering professor at University of South Florida. During the Clinton administration and Bush administration, he was invited to the White House. He actively campaigned for the Bush presidential campaign in the United States presidential election in 2000. After a contentious interview with Bill O'Reilly on ''The O'Reilly Factor'' following the September 11 attacks, Al-Arian's tenure at University of South Florida came under public scrutiny.
