The University of National and World Economy ( bg, Университет за национално и световно стопанство) is a university in Sofia, Bulgaria. Notable alumni of the university are five Prime Ministers of Bulgaria – Reneta Indzhova, Stefan Sofiyanski, Ivan Kostov, Marin Raykov and Plamen Oresharski; the current Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund – Kristalina Georgieva; and the director of the Financial Markets Group at the London School of Economics and former Minister of Finance of Bulgaria Simeon Djankov. Kristalina Georgieva
Kristalina Ivanova Georgieva-Kinova ( bg, Кристалина Иванова Георгиева-Кинова; ; born 13 August 1953) is a Bulgarian economist serving as managing director of the International Monetary Fund since 2019. She was the Chief Executive of the World Bank Group from 2017 to 2019 and served as Acting President of the World Bank Group from 1 February 2019 to 8 April 2019 following the resignation of Jim Yong Kim. She previously served as Vice-President of the European Commission under Jean-Claude Juncker from 2014 to 2016. In 2021, an independent inquiry determined that Georgieva had instructed staff at the World Bank to inflate data to make China look better during her tenure as Chief Executive. Peter Bogaevsky
Peter Mikhailovich Bogaevsky (or Bogayevsky) ((russian: Пётр Михайлович Богаевский) (( bg, Петър Михайлович Богаевски) (January 23, 1866 — January 29, 1929) was a professor of international law in the Russian Empire. He was a professor at Tomsk University and later at Kiev University where he founded and directed the Kiev Institute for Near East. Following the Socialist revolution, he fled as an emigre to Sofia, Bulgaria where he assumed the post of professor of international law at the University of Sofia. With Stefan Bobchev he founded the Free University of Political and Economic Science.
