UNIST
Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology, simply referred to as UNIST (), is one of the four public universities in South Korea which are dedicated to research in science and technology, along with KAIST, GIST, and DGIST. UNIST was founded in 2007 in response to growing demand for higher education in the Korean industrial capital of Ulsan, where world-renowned automotive ( Hyundai Motor), shipbuilding (Hyundai Heavy Industries), petrochemical (SK Energy), and secondary cells industries are clustered. Yong Hoon Lee
Yong Hoon Lee (born 12 July 1955) is the President of Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology , South Korea. He is an electrical engineer specializing in wireless communications and signal processing. Early life Lee received his bachelor's and master's degree in electrical and computer engineering from Seoul National University, Korea in 1978 and 1980 respectively. In 1984, Lee received his Ph.D. degree in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, USA. Myung Kyungjae
Myung Kyungjae is a biologist researching DNA repair pathways at the molecular level. He is a Distinguished Professor at the Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST) and the Director of the IBS Center for Genomic Integrity located on the UNIST campus. He is on the editorial board of various peer-reviewed journals and is a member of multiple scientific societies. Steve Granick
Steve Granick is an American scientist and educator. In 2023 he will join the University of Massachusetts-Amherst as the Robert Barrett Chair of Polymer Science and Engineering, with joint appointment in the Chemistry, Physics, and Chemical Engineering Departments after serving as director of the Institute for Basic Science Center for Soft and Living Matter, an interdisciplinary blue-sky research center in Ulsan, South Korea that pursues basic science research. He is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the U.S. National Academy of Sciences. Education Granick obtained his B.A. in Sociology from Princeton University in 1978 by correspondence and after initially dropping out during his Junior year. The Institute for Basic Science (IBS; ) is a Korean government-funded research institute that conducts basic science research and relevant pure basic research. IBS was established in November 2011 by the Lee Myung-bak administration as a research institute, later be a core of the International Science and Business Belt (ISBB) upon relocation of their headquarters from a rented property to their own campus in January 2018 using land reclaimed from the Taejŏn Expo '93 in Expo Science Park.
