UMLi
The Unified Modeling Language for Interactive Systems (UMLi) is a conservative extension of the Unified Modeling Language for user interface design. UMLi was developed in the period between 1998 and 2002 as part of Paulo Pinheiro Paulo Pinheiro is a Brazilian American computer scientist working in the areas of provenance and semantic web in support of sciences. UMLi is based on model-based user interface development environments (MB-UIDEs), which provide the capability to design and implement user interfaces in a declarative and systematic way. Paulo Pinheiro is a Brazilian American computer scientist working in the areas of provenance and semantic web in support of sciences. Pinheiro has been a research scientist at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's Tetherless World Constellation since 2013. Between 2011 and 2013, he was a staff scientist at the U.S. Department of Energy's Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. Between 2006 and 2012, he was an associate professor of computer science at the University of Texas at El Paso. Pinheiro is from a long line of scientists and engineers: his father is a retired professor of material sciences at the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais; his paternal grandfather was the founding Mine Superintendent of Vale S.A., the second largest mining company in the world and Israel Pinheiro da Silva, a great-granduncle, was the chief engineer responsible for the construction of Brasilia, the capital of Brazil. Education Pinheiro received a licenciatura in mathematics and a maste ...

Unified Modeling Language
The Unified Modeling Language (UML) is a general-purpose, developmental modeling language in the field of software engineering that is intended to provide a standard way to visualize the design of a system. The creation of UML was originally motivated by the desire to standardize the disparate notational systems and approaches to software design. It was developed at Rational Software in 1994–1995, with further development led by them through 1996. In 1997, UML was adopted as a standard by the Object Management Group (OMG), and has been managed by this organization ever since. In 2005, UML was also published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) as an approved ISO standard. Since then the standard has been periodically revised to cover the latest revision of UML. In software engineering, most practitioners do not use UML, but instead produce informal hand drawn diagrams; these diagrams, however, often include elements from UML. History Before UML 1 ...
