UEFA Euro 2000 Qualifying
Qualifying for the UEFA Euro 2000 final tournament, took place throughout 1998 and 1999. Forty-nine teams were divided into nine groups. All teams played against each other, within their groups, on a home-and-away basis. The winner of each group and the best runner-up qualified automatically for the final tournament. The rest of the runners-up played an additional set of playoff matches amongst each other. Belgium and the Netherlands qualified automatically as co-hosts of the event. Qualified teams Qualification seeding The draw occurred on 18 January 1998, in Ghent, Belgium. The 49 participating teams were divided into five drawing pots based on the newly introduced 1997-edition of the UEFA national team coefficient ranking, which calculated an average of the team's points per game achieved combined in the Euro 1996 and 1998 World Cup qualifiers. Alan Snoddy
Alan Gordon Snoddy (born 29 March 1955) is a retired Northern Irish football referee, known for having refereed two matches in the FIFA World Cup: one in 1986 and one in 1990. At the 1986 World Cup Snoddy was appointed to referee the game between Morocco and Portugal in Guadalajara which ended 3–1 to Morocco. In the 1990 World Cup Snoddy refereed the game between Colombia and West Germany which ended 1–1 at the San Siro in Milan. Snoddy served as Referee Development Officer for the Irish Football Association a position which he left in 2014 although he still works as a Referee Observer for both the Irish Football Association (IFA) and UEFA. He is also a member of the UEFA Referee Convention Panel and is widely used in assisting countries develop their refereeing structures. Miklós Fehér
Miklós "Miki" Fehér (; 20 July 1979 – 25 January 2004) was a Hungarian professional footballer who played as a striker. He spent most of his nine-year career in Portugal, representing four clubs and amassing Primeira Liga totals of 80 games and 27 goals. On 25 January 2004, he died of a cardiac arrest during a match between Vitória de Guimarães and his team Benfica in Guimarães. Fehér represented Hungary national team at international level, making his debut in 1998 at the age of 19. István Pisont
István Pisont (born 16 May 1970) is a Hungarian former international footballer, and manager. He is currently the coach of the Hungarian national U-17 team. He has been interim manager of Budapest Honvéd FC on two occasions. Career Pisont started his professional career in the Hungarian League with Budapest Honvéd FC. After a few years spent with the Budapest side, he decided to move on to the Belgium League where he signed for R. Charleroi S.C. in the 1994–95 season. Béla Illés (; born 27 April 1968 in Sárvár, Hungary) is a retired Hungarian football player who has spent most of his career playing for MTK Hungária FC. Pál Dárdai (born 16 March 1976) is a Hungarian retired footballer who played mainly as a defensive midfielder, and last coached Hertha BSC. In a 20-year professional career, he played for over a decade with the same club, Hertha BSC, in Germany. With 286 Bundesliga appearances, he is the club's most capped player. Dárdai gained 61 caps for the Hungary national team in 12 years, and also worked as the country's manager. Urs Meier (born January 22, 1959, in Zurich) is a retired Swiss football referee. He officiated at the 1998 and 2002 World Cups, taking charge of the semi-final between South Korea and Germany in 2002. He also refereed the 2002 UEFA Champions League Final that year. He appeared at Euro 2000 and Euro 2004, refereeing the quarter-final between England and Portugal in 2004. He retired 6 months later. Meier received FIFA appointments and refereed in the Swiss top division until he reached the mandatory retirement age for each.
