Standings and results for Group 7 of the UEFA Euro 1988 qualifying tournament. Group 7 consisted of Belgium, Bulgaria, Luxembourg, Republic of Ireland and Scotland. Group winners were Republic of Ireland, who finished one point clear of second-placed Bulgaria. It was Ireland's first appearance in the final stages of a major tournament: while Belgium, who had recently taken fourth place in the 1986 World Cup, were group favourites but importantly failed to win any of their matches against either Ireland or Bulgaria, who both finished ahead of them. Scotland, who finished fourth, had started the group badly but as soon as qualification was a mathematical impossibility, they made a late run in which they scored victories over both Belgium and Bulgaria: the latter, a victory with a late goal four minutes from time, secured Ireland's place in the finals after Ireland had finished all their matches, when a draw would have handed the group to Bulgaria on goal difference. Mo Johnston
Maurice John Giblin Johnston (born 13 April 1963) is a Scottish football player and coach. Johnston, who played as a forward, started his senior football career with Partick Thistle in 1981. He moved to Watford in 1983, where he scored 23 league goals and helped them reach the 1984 FA Cup Final. In 1984 he joined Celtic and scored 72 goals in 128 matches, won the Scottish Cup in 1985 and the Scottish league championship in 1986. Johnston signed for Nantes in 1987. He returned to Glasgow with Rangers in 1989, becoming the second player to cross the Old Firm divide since World War II ( Alfie Conn was first) and the first open Catholic to play for Rangers since World War I. The Norwegian Football Federation ( nb, Norges Fotballforbund, nn, Noregs Fotballforbund; NFF) is the governing body of football in Norway. It was formed in 1902 and organises the men's and women's national teams, as well as the league systems for men and women (whose top levels are respectively the Eliteserien and Toppserien). Einar Halle
Einar Halle (born 29 December 1943) is a Norwegian former football referee who also represented Molde FK as a player. He officiated 187 matches in Tippeligaen, in addition to 130 matches as a UEFA referee. He has later been a referee observer. Career Halle hails from Molde and was a promising goalkeeper in his youth. He played 50 matches for Molde FK's first team between 1962 and 1964. He landed on his head during a match against Skarbøvik, and was in hospital for two days. This injury ended his career in Molde FK, but he continued his career as a goalkeeper in lower leagues for Træff and Rival. Halle started refereeing after his career as player in Molde FK ended, and continued to represent Molde FK as a referee. Halle became a national referee in 1970, and officiated 187 matches in Tippeligaen between 1973 and 1993. Lansdowne Road Stadium ( ga, Bóthar Lansdún, ) was a stadium in Dublin owned by the Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) that was primarily used for rugby union and association football matches. The stadium was demolished in 2007 to make way for the Aviva Stadium on the same site, which opened in 2010. The stadium took its name from the adjacent street, Lansdowne Road. Location The stadium was situated in the neighbourhood of Ballsbridge in the city's Dublin 4 area. The Stade Josy Barthel is the former national stadium of Luxembourg, and the former home of the Luxembourg national football team.
