UEFA Euro 1980
The 1980 UEFA European Football Championship finals tournament was held in Italy. This was the sixth UEFA European Championship, which is held every four years and endorsed by UEFA. It was the first European Championship to feature eight teams in the finals, which took place between 11 and 22 June 1980. Germany national football team, West Germany won the UEFA Euro 1980 Final, final 2–1 against Belgium national football team, Belgium for their second title. This was the last European Championship with a third place play-off. Bid process This was the first European Championship in which eight teams, rather than four, contested the finals tournament. Karl-Heinz Rummenigge
Karl-Heinz "Kalle" Rummenigge (; born 25 September 1955) is a German football executive and former professional player. He was the longtime Chairman of Executive Board of FC Bayern München AG, a daughter company of German Bundesliga team Bayern Munich. As a player, Rummenigge had his greatest career success with Bayern Munich, where he won the Intercontinental Cup, two European Cups, as well as two league titles and two domestic cups. He was also honoured twice as European Footballer of the Year. A member of the West Germany national team, Rummenigge won the 1980 European Championship and was part of the squad that finished runner-up in the 1982 FIFA World Cup and at the 1986 World Cup. Antonín Panenka
Antonín Panenka (born 2 December 1948) is a Czech retired footballer who played as an attacking midfielder. He spent most of his career representing Czechoslovak club Bohemians Prague. Panenka won UEFA Euro 1976 with the national team of Czechoslovakia. In the final against West Germany, he notably scored the winning penalty in the shootout with a softly-chipped ball up the middle of the goal as the goalkeeper dived away; a style of penalty now known as a '' panenka'', named after him. In 1980, he won Czechoslovak Footballer of the Year and his team finished third at Euro 1980. František Štambachr
František Štambachr or Štambacher (born 13 February 1953 in Čebín), nicknamed "''Štambi''", is a former Czechoslovak footballer, gold medalist with the Czechoslovak Olympic Football Team at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow. He was considered as an allrounder who could play in almost every position of the midfield (especially left wing and defensive midfield). Club career During his youth Štambachr played for Sokol Čebín and KPS Brno. In 1972, he transferred to Dukla Prague (nowadays known as Marila Pribram). Ladislav Jurkemik (born 20 July 1953) is a former Slovak football player and later a football manager. He played in the Czechoslovak First League for Inter Bratislava and Dukla Banská Bystrica. Jurkemik played internationally for Czechoslovakia; he played a total of 57 matches and scored 3 goals. He managed Slovakia in 2002 and 2003. Anton Ondruš
Anton Ondruš (born 27 March 1950 in Solčany, Czechoslovakia) is a former Slovak football player and considered one of the best defenders of the seventies. Early club career He started to play regularly for Slovan Bratislava in the fall of 1970. With this club, he won the Czechoslovak League in 1974 and 1975, and he later become the captain of this team, playing in total in 210 matches and scoring 38 goals. The team won the Czechoslovak Cup in 1974. International career Ondruš played 58 matches for Czechoslovakia and scored 9 goals. Jozef Barmoš
Jozef Barmoš (born 28 August 1954) is a former Slovak football coach and former player. He played in defence for Czechoslovakia, and won 52 international caps. After winning the European Championships in 1976, Barmoš played for Czechoslovakia at both Euro 80 and Espana 82. Jaroslav Netolička (born 3 March 1954, in Opava) is a Czech football goalkeeper. He obtained a total number of fifteen caps for Czechoslovakia national football team, in which he conceded ten goals. Netolička began his playing career with Dukla Prague and TJ Vítkovice.
