National Civic Union (Bolivia)
The National Civic Union (Spanish: ''Unión Cívica Nacional'', UCN) was a small centrist political party in Bolivia. The National Civic Union was founded in 1964. This party of recent origin was allegedly financed by the government of Víctor Paz Estenssoro Ángel Víctor Paz Estenssoro (2 October 1907 – 7 June 2001) was a Bolivian politician who served as the 45th president of Bolivia for three nonconsecutive and four total terms from 1952 to 1956, 1960 to 1964 and 1985 to 1989. He ran for pr ... to provide a token opposition, because other opposition parties boycotted the election on 31 May 1964. The National Civic Union presented any candidates for the 10 Senate and 36 Chamber of Deputies seats up for election, but it garnered only a negligible vote. Ultracold Neutrons
Ultracold neutrons (UCN) are free neutrons which can be stored in traps made from certain materials. The storage is based on the reflection of UCN by such materials under any angle of incidence. Properties The reflection is caused by the coherent strong interaction of the neutron with atomic nuclei. It can be quantum-mechanically described by an effective potential which is commonly referred to as the ''Fermi pseudo potential'' or the ''neutron optical potential''. The corresponding velocity is called the ''critical velocity'' of a material. Neutrons are reflected from a surface if the velocity component normal to the reflecting surface is less than or equal to the critical velocity. As the neutron optical potential of most materials is below 300 neV, the kinetic energy of incident neutrons must not be higher than this value to be reflected under any angle of incidence, especially for normal incidence. The kinetic energy of 300 neV corresponds to a maximum velocity of 7.6&nbs ...

UCN (gene)
Urocortin is a protein that in humans is encoded by the ''UCN'' gene. Urocortin belongs to the corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF) family of proteins which includes CRF, urotensin I, sauvagine, urocortin II and urocortin III. Urocortin is involved in the mammalian stress response, and regulates aspects of appetite and stress response. Structure, localization, and interactions Urocortin is a peptide composed of 40 amino acids. Urocortin is composed of a single alpha helix structure. The human ''UCN'' gene contains two exons, and the entirety of the coding region is contained within the second exon. Urocortin is expressed widely in the central and peripheral nervous systems, with a pattern similar to that of CRF. Areas of similarity between urocortin and CRF expression include the supraoptic nucleus and the hippocampus. Urocortin is also expressed in areas distinct from CRF expression; these areas notably include the median eminence, the Edinger-Westphal nucleus, and the sphen ...

UCN2
Urocortin-2 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the ''UCN2'' gene. This gene is a member of the sauvagine/corticotropin-releasing factor/urotensin I family. It is structurally related to the corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF) gene and the encoded product is an endogenous ligand for CRF type 2 receptors. In the brain it may be responsible for the effects of stress (biology), stress on appetite. In spite of the gene family name similarity, the product of this gene has no sequence similarity to urotensin II. References Further reading

UCN3
Urocortin-3 is a protein that, in humans, is encoded by the ''UCN3'' gene. It belongs to the corticotropin-releasing hormone family. Function This gene is a member of the sauvagine/corticotropin-releasing factor/urotensin I family. It is structurally related to the corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF) gene and the encoded product is an endogenous ligand for CRF type 2 receptors. In the brain it may be responsible for the effects of stress on appetite. In humans, it is also expressed by alpha cells and beta cells in the pancreas and is co-released with glucagon and insulin to promote somatostatin Somatostatin, also known as growth hormone-inhibiting hormone (GHIH) or by several other names, is a peptide hormone that regulates the endocrine system and affects neurotransmission and cell proliferation via interaction with G protein-couple ... release from neighboring delta cells, which provides negative feedback on glucagon and insulin secretion. Escape Sequences In C
Escape sequences are used in the programming languages C and C++, and their design was copied in many other languages such as Java, PHP, C#, etc. An escape sequence is a sequence of characters that does not represent itself when used inside a character or string literal, but is translated into another character or a sequence of characters that may be difficult or impossible to represent directly. In C, all escape sequences consist of two or more characters, the first of which is the backslash, (called the "Escape character"); the remaining characters determine the interpretation of the escape sequence. For example, is an escape sequence that denotes a newline character. Motivation Suppose we want to print out on one line, followed by on the next line. One could attempt to represent the string to be printed as a single literal as follows: #include int main() This is not valid in C, since a string literal may not span multiple logical source lines. This can be worke ...
