UAZ Simba
The UAZ Simba is a UAZ designed 4×2 or 4×4 wheel drive minivan concept. The Simba has a wheelbase of 3,000 mm and is a combination of a 7-9-person van and an SUV. It shares many common components with UAZ-3162 SUV. Simba family prototypes were shown at the Moscow Auto Salon in 1999–2005, but did not reach production for financial reasons. The Simba was based on an enhanced UAZ Simbir platform. The Simba family provided for the modification of a long 3000 mm wheelbase which contained a 250 mm rear overhang. The Simba's roof was 460 mm taller than the Simbir's, which allowed to increase the capacity up to 13 passengers. UAZ-3165 was planning on offering one petrol engine, the UFG 249.10, or the turbo-diesel ZMZ-5143.10, producing respectively. The only transmission option was to have been a manual 5-speed gearbox. Minivan
Minivan (sometimes called simply as van) is a North American car classification for vehicles designed to transport passengers in the rear seating row(s), with reconfigurable seats in two or three rows. The equivalent classification in Europe is MPV (multi purpose vehicle). Minivans often have a 'one-box' or 'two-box' body configuration, a higher roof, a flat floor, sliding doors for rear passengers, and high H-point seating. Minivan was also equivalent in Southeast Asia as the Asian Utility Vehicle (AUV). Compared with a full-size van, most minivans are based on a passenger car platform and have a lower body. Concept Car
A concept car (also known as a concept vehicle, show vehicle or prototype) is a car made to showcase new styling and/or new technology. They are often exhibited at motor shows to gauge customer reaction to new and radical designs which may or may not be mass-produced. General Motors designer Harley Earl is generally credited with inventing the concept car, and did much to popularize it through its traveling Motorama shows of the 1950s. Concept cars never go into production directly. In modern times all would have to undergo many changes before the design is finalized for the sake of practicality, safety, regulatory compliance, and cost. Sport Utility Vehicle
A sport utility vehicle (SUV) is a car classification that combines elements of road-going passenger cars with features from off-road vehicles, such as raised ground clearance and four-wheel drive. There is no commonly agreed-upon definition of an SUV and usage of the term varies between countries. Thus, it is "a loose term that traditionally covers a broad range of vehicles with four-wheel drive." The Moscow International Automobile Salon or MIAS (russian: Московский Международный Автомобильный Салон) is the biennial auto show held at Crocus Expo in Moscow, Russia. The show is scheduled by the Organisation Internationale des Constructeurs d'Automobiles, which considers it a major international auto show. The organizers are the Association of Russian Carmakers NP and the Expo Centre. Numerous dealer conferences organized by car producers are forming the integral part of the program. UAZ Simbir
The UAZ Simbir (Russian: Симбир for Leopard), or UAZ-3162, is a model of off-road vehicle produced at the Russian Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant in 2000–2005. This car is a completely new model in relation to the UAZ-469 and modifications based on it. Is essentially a rebodied extended wheelbase UAZ-3160. On August 5, 1997 the first prototype of the UAZ-3160 rolled off the assembly line. April 27, 2000 saw the first production sample UAZ-3162 "Simbir" featuring a long wheelbase and new Spicer axles from the UAZ-3160. In 2003 the car was awarded zero stars out of a possible four by the Russian ARCAP safety assessment program. The Simbir-based UAZ-2360 pickup truck was produced in small numbers in 2004–2005. Turbo-diesel
The term turbo-diesel, also written as turbodiesel and turbo diesel, refers to any diesel engine equipped with a turbocharger. As with other engine types, turbocharging a diesel engine can significantly increase its efficiency and power output, especially when used in combination with an intercooler. Turbocharging of diesel engines began in the 1920s with large marine and stationary engines. The UAZ-452 "Bukhanka" ('Буханка' or ' ''bread loaf''') are a family of compact Russian cab over engine vans and light trucks with standard four-wheel drive, off-road capability, built by the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant (UAZ) since 1965. The vans got their nickname due to their outer resemblance to a loaf of bread – except the ambulance version, which gets called a "Tabletka" ('Таблетка'), or 'pill' in Russian. GAZ Sobol
The GAZ Sobol (Russian ''Соболь'' for Sable) is a series of Russian light-duty trucks, vans and minivans, produced by the Gorky Automobile Plant from November 1998. GAZ refers to the Sobol as a minivan.
