UAE Arabian Gulf Cup
The UAE League Cup ( ar, كأس رابطة المحترفين الإماراتية) or the Pro League Cup is a knockout tournament for clubs in the UAE Pro-League. The first edition of the tournament was played in the 2008–2009 season. In the 2008–09 season, UAE League Cup replaced the UAE Federation Cup and became a second tier tournament, initially under the name of Etisalat Cup in 2008–2013 and Arabian Gulf Cup in 2013–2021 for sponsorship reasons. 2017–18 UAE League Cup
The 2017–18 UAE League Cup is the 10th season of the UAE League Cup. The competition started on September 4, 2017. Group stage Group A Group B Group matches All times are local ( UTC+04:00). Group A Group B Knockout phase The knockout phase involves the first four teams of each of the 2 groups in the group stage. Each tie in the knockout phase, apart from the final, is played over two legs, with each team playing one leg at home. The team that scores more goals on aggregate over the two legs advance to the next round. If the aggregate score is level, the away goals rule is applied, i.e. the team that scored more goals away from home over the two legs advances. If away goals are also equal, then thirty minutes of extra time is played. Sharjah Football Club ( ar, نادي الشارقة لكرة القدم) is an Emirati professional football club based in Sharjah that competes in the UAE Pro League. Their home stadium is Sharjah Stadium. Founded in 1966, it has been the most successful team in the Emirate of Sharjah, winning 6 pro league titles, 9 presidents cups and 2 super cups. The club was also the first official UAE league champion since its establishment in 1974. Al-Nasr CSC ( ar, نادي النصر الرياضي) is an Emirati professional association football, football club based in Al Nasr, Dubai and competes in the UAE Pro League. Al-Nasr, literally translating to "victory" in Arabic, was founded in 1945 and is considered as the first and oldest club in the United Arab Emirates. The team played in an empty playground near a highschool for three years until in 1948 were they finally decided to establish modern rules of football. 2013–14 UAE League Cup
The UAE League Cup, currently known as the Arabian Gulf Cup and previously known as the Emirates Cup followed a new simplified format for the 2013/14 season. The fourteen teams, sorted by draw into two groups of seven teams each, played each another only once during the group stages, with home or away fixtures also decided by draw. After the 7 rounds of the group stage, the top two teams of each group progressed to the Semi-finals of the competition, with the first-placed side gaining home advantage. The Semi-finals were won by Al Jazira (on penalties) and Al Ahli to set up the Arabian Gulf Cup final between the two sides, on Saturday 19 April 2014. The Arabian Gulf Cup final was played at the neutral venue of the Hazza bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain.
