UAAP Season 86 Volleyball Tournaments
The UAAP Season 86 volleyball tournaments were the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) volleyball tournaments for the UAAP Season 86, 2023–24 school year. The collegiate men's and women's tournaments began on February 17, 2024. The high school boys' and girls' tournaments began on November 4, 2023. For the first time in the Final Four history of the UAAP collegiate volleyball tournaments, a fourth-seeded team has qualified to the championship series after the UST Golden Spikers volleyball, UST Golden Spikers overcame the twice-to-beat team, FEU Tamaraws volleyball, FEU Tamaraws, in the semifinal series. This season also marks the first double UAAP Finals matchup of the same schools in the collegiate volleyball tournaments in the 21st century, after both men's and women's teams of NU and UST qualified to the championship round. The Araneta Coliseum, also currently known by naming rights sponsorship as Smart Araneta Coliseum, is an indoor multi-purpose sports arena that is part of the Araneta City in the Cubao area of Quezon City, Philippines. George Pascua
George Pascua is a Filipino volleyball coach who is the head coach of the Adamson Soaring Falcons' men's volleyball team. He was the head coach of the PLDT High Speed Hitters during the 2022 season of the Premier Volleyball League. He was also a longtime coach of the Far Eastern University's women's volleyball team and a former player of the university's men's team. Career Playing career Prior to becoming a volleyball coach, Pascua was part of the Far Eastern University's (FEU) men's volleyball team playing alongside Ramil De Jesus. He was also formerly part of the Philippine men's national team. Coaching career Far Eastern University Pascua became part of the coaching staff of his alma mater's volleyball program. The De La Salle University Lady Spikers is the official women's volleyball team of De La Salle University. History The Lady Spikers were the first NCAA women's champions in volleyball when the tournament was introduced in NCAA Season 51 (1975–76). The first UAAP title of the team came in Season 62 (2000).
