UAAP Badminton Championship
The UAAP Badminton Championship is a badminton tournament on the Philippines for university teams. Results Streaks * UP owns the longest streak for most number of consecutive titles in the Women's Division at six. NU also currently holds six straight titles in the Men's Division. * UP also won "double crown" (winning both Men's and Women's) for four consecutive years (1997–2000). Ateneo have two double crowns in 2003–2004 and 2013–2014, while FEU achieved the feat in the 2006–2007 Season. Badminton
Badminton is a racquet sport played using racquets to hit a shuttlecock across a net. Although it may be played with larger teams, the most common forms of the game are "singles" (with one player per side) and "doubles" (with two players per side). Badminton is often played as a casual outdoor activity in a yard or on a beach; formal games are played on a rectangular indoor court. Points are scored by striking the shuttlecock with the racquet and landing it within the opposing side's half of the court. Each side may only strike the shuttlecock once before it passes over the net. Play ends once the shuttlecock has struck the floor or if a fault has been called by the umpire, service judge, or (in their absence) the opposing side. The shuttlecock is a feathered or (in informal matches) plastic projectile which flies differently from the balls used in many other sports. UAAP Season 73 is the 2010–2011 athletic year of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines. It was hosted by De La Salle University. The men's basketball and the women's volleyball tournaments were aired by ABS-CBN Channel 2 and Studio 23 (the men's basketball events was simulcast over DZRJ-AM) for the eleventh consecutive year following the renewal of the contract for the broadcast of the games. UAAP Season 85 was the 2022–23 athletic year of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). Season 85 theme is "Rise as One", and the season host was the Adamson University. With just seven events in Season 84, the collegiate league will be bringing back the full athletic calendar of events for Season 85. The year 2022 will thus hold two UAAP seasons. UAAP Season 83
UAAP Season 83 was the planned 2020–21 athletic year of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). This season was to be hosted by the De La Salle University. Eight member universities of the UAAP would compete in the league's sixteen sport disciplines to vie for the general championship. The COVID-19 pandemic in the Philippines caused Season 82, which was supposed to end in May 2020, to be cancelled in April 2020. This had to be done to avoid logistical issues in organizing Season 83, which was planned to open in January 2021 but the plan was scrapped in December 2020, taking into account training that is usually held months prior to the opening of a UAAP season and the imposition of general community quarantine measures in Metro Manila. UAAP Season 82 was the 2019–20 athletic year of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). The season was hosted by the Ateneo de Manila University. Eight member universities of the UAAP competed in the league's fifteen sports to vie for the general championship. UAAP Season 79 (also known as UAAP LXXIX) is the 2016–2017 athletic year of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). This season, hosted by the University of Santo Tomas officially opened on September 3, 2016. The opening ceremony was held at the UST Plaza Mayor at 3:00 pm with the formal introduction of ballroom dancing as a demonstration sport in this season by the host school University of Santo Tomas (UST) at España, Manila.
