U6 (Frankfurt U-Bahn)
The Line C is a line on the Frankfurt U-Bahn. It consists of the U6 and the U7. At the time of the line's inauguration in 1986, it ran from Enkheim to the Hauptwache and then continued along the Bockenheimer Landstrasse all the way up to Bockenheim and then continued to their terminus in Hausen for U7, whereas for U6, it then continued to their terminus in Praunheim. Frankfurt U-Bahn
The Frankfurt U-Bahn is a Stadtbahn system serving Frankfurt, Hesse, Germany. Together with the Rhine-Main S-Bahn and the Frankfurt Straßenbahn, it forms the backbone of the public transport system in Frankfurt. Its name derives from the German term for underground, ''Untergrundbahn''. Since 1996, the U-Bahn has been owned and operated by (VGF), the public transport company of Frankfurt, and is part of the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund (RMV) transport association. The licence contract is up to 31 December 2031 and is renewable. The contracting authority of VGF is the municipal transport company . The U-Bahn opened in 1968, and has been expanded several times. Frankfurt (Main) Hauptwache station (german: link=no, Bahnhof Frankfurt (Main) Hauptwache) is a major train station in the city centre of Frankfurt, Germany. With 181,000 passengers per day, Hauptwache station is the third-busiest rapid transit station in Frankfurt after Frankfurt Central Station and Konstablerwache station and a major hub for commuter transport in the Frankfurt/Rhine-Main region. It is served by eight S-Bahn lines (S1–S6, S8, S9) and six U-Bahn lines (U1-U3, U6-U8) on 2 levels. Name The underground station is named after a baroque building which stands on a plaza above the station. Willi Brundert
Willi Brundert (12 June 1912 - 7 May 1970) was a German politician. He served in several political roles in the Soviet occupation zone of Germany from 1946 until his arrest and imprisonment in 1950. After being released from prison in 1957, Brundert relocated to the state of Hesse in West Germany, where he served in the state parliament and as Mayor of Frankfurt-am-Main from 1964 until his death in 1970. Biography Brundert was born into a family with a history of SPD membership. His father was a typesetter. In 1930, Brundert joined the SPD and the group Reichsbanner Schwarz-Rot-Gold. He studied law and political science at the University of Halle (where he was president of the university SPD organisation between 1931 and 1933). He received his doctorate at the University of Hamburg in 1935. Brundert worked as a tax lawyer at an auditing firm in Berlin for some time. City-Tunnel Frankfurt
The Frankfurt City Tunnel is standard gauge railway in Frankfurt and the core of the Rhine-Main S-Bahn. The line runs underground for its entire length. Central Station to Konstablerwache The first section was put into operation on 28 May 1978 to Hauptwache. S-Bahn trains began operating on the Taunus Railway (S1), the Main-Lahn Railway (S2), the Limes Railway (S3), the Kronberg Railway (S4), the Homburg Railway (S5) and the Main-Weser Railway (S6) after climbing a ramp under the former postal station in the tunnel and reached the surface about 500 metres east of the central station. The Main Railway service (S14, now S8), was introduced shortly later. The line runs northeast for about 700 metres from the central station to Taunusanlage station, built on the site of the old city walls near the Alte Oper and the Deutsche Bank Twin Towers.
