U.S. Route 79 (US 79) enters Kentucky from Tennessee in Todd County west of Guthrie and runs northeast into Logan County, terminating at a junction with US 68, US 68 Business, and Kentucky Route 80 (KY 80) in Russellville. US 79 remains a two-lane road throughout Kentucky. Route description US 79 in Kentucky begins at the Tennessee state line west of Guthrie and travels northeast, forming a junction with US 41 from the state line. The route continues to the northeast, passing north of Guthrie and Allensville in rural areas of Todd County. from the Kentucky-Tennessee border, US 79 crosses into Logan County where it becomes known as Clarksville Road. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) is Kentucky's state-funded agency charged with building and maintaining federal highways and Kentucky state highways, as well as regulating other transportation related issues. The Transportation Cabinet is led by the Kentucky Secretary of Transportation, who is appointed by the governor of Kentucky. Kentucky Route 100 (KY 100) originates at a junction with U.S.. Highway 79 in Russellville in Logan County. The route continues through Simpson County, Allen County and Monroe County to terminate at a junction with KY 90 near Waterview in Cumberland County. According to the Caves, Lakes, and Corvettes regional brochure, the entire KY 100 corridor is considered a Kentucky Scenic Byway. History Kentucky Route 100 was one out of many charter state highways when the statewide system of state highways began in the late 1920s into 1930. Its original western terminus was located near downtown Russellville, and its eastern terminus was originally located about west of Burkesville on KY 90. Russellville-Logan County Airport is a public use airport located four nautical miles (5 mi, 7 km) southeast of the central business district of Russellville, a city in Logan County, Kentucky, United States. Owned by the City County Airport Board, it is included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2011–2015, which categorized it as a ''general aviation'' facility. Facilities and aircraft Russellville-Logan County Airport covers an area of 68 acres (28 ha) at an elevation of 692 feet (211 m) above mean sea level. It has one runway designated 7/25 with an asphalt surface measuring 4,500 by 75 feet (1,372 x 23 m). The entire route is located in western Middle Tennessee. For the majority of its length, SR 13 is designated as a primary highway, except between Erin and Cunningham, which is designated as a secondary highway. The ''Daily News'' is a daily-except-Saturday newspaper based in Bowling Green, Kentucky. It is published Sunday mornings and Monday through Friday evenings. History The current newspaper can trace its roots to the ''Bowling Green Democrat'' founded in 1854. A rival paper, ''The Daily Times'', was founded by John B. Gaines in 1882 and the newspapers eventually merged into the predecessor to the ''Park City Daily News''; now named the Daily News. The newspaper was still owned by members of the Gaines family until its sale in 2022. It can be seen as an extension of U.S. Route 79 (US 79), as they have the same number; KY 79 begins in the same city that US 79 ends, and both travel on a northeast–southwest diagonal. Route description KY 79 starts at an intersection with KY 3519, an old alignment of US 431, in downtown Russellville, while US 79's end is currently at an intersection with US 68 and KY 80 on the eastern side of Russellville.
