U.S. Route 20A In Ohio
U.S. Route 20A (US 20A) is a east–west alternate route of US 20 located in northwest Ohio. The western terminus of the route is at US 20 southwest of Pioneer, and the eastern terminus is at US 20 in Maumee, southwest of Toledo. Route description The route runs parallel to the Ohio Turnpike (Interstate 80/Interstate 90, I-80/I-90) for much of its length, and intersects the turnpike at exit 13 northeast of Montpelier in Holiday City. US 20 and US 20A are never more than apart for the entire stretch through the Ohio farm country, as the mainline of US 20 takes the more northerly route. Pioneer, Ohio
Pioneer is a village in Williams County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,369 at the 2010 census. History Pioneer was platted in 1853. A post office has been in operation at Pioneer since 1851. From 1903, the village was the terminus of an electric interurban passenger railroad from Toledo called the Toledo and Western Railway, which was hoping to become a link in an electric rail service from that city to Chicago but which got no further. The line closed to passengers in 1933 but continued freight service until 1943, from 1934 as the Pioneer and Fayette Railroad. This was only formally abandoned in 1991. Ohio State Route 2
State Route 2 (SR 2), formerly known as Inter-county Highway 2 until 1921 and State Highway 2 in 1922, is an east–west highway crossing most of northern Ohio. Its western terminus is at the Indiana state line near Hicksville where the route becomes Indiana State Road 37 which continues to Fort Wayne, Indiana. The eastern terminus of the route is in Painesville Township in Lake County at U.S. Route 20 (US 20).
