U.S. Novese
Unione Sportiva Dilettantistica Novese is an Italian football club from Novi Ligure, Piedmont. The club has won the 1921–22 Italian Football Championship, but plays now in Promozione. Novese is the only Italian football team that won a championship without playing a single season in Serie A nor in Serie B. History Novese was founded in 1919 and entered Italian history by F.I.G.C. 1921–22 Italian Football Championship, a season when there were two competing major leagues in Italian football: the Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio (F.I.G.C.) and the breakaway Confederazione Calcistica Italiana, which included the big clubs of Northern Italy. Stadio Costante Girardengo is a Association football, football stadium located in Novi Ligure, Italy. It is the home to the U.S.D. Novese, Novese, currently competing in Serie D. It opened in 1966 and holds 3,500 spectators. It is named after Costante Girardengo, an Italy, Italian professional road bicycle racer. Prima Divisione
Prima Divisione (''First Division'') was the name of the first level of the Italian Football Championship from 1921 to 1926. The competition was initially founded in opposition to the FIGC by the richest clubs of Northern Italy, which disagreed the old format of the championship, based on plethoric regional groups. In 1921–22, two concurrent championships took place, before FIGC accepted the new format for 1922–23. The Italian football league system, also known as the Italian football pyramid, refers to the hierarchically interconnected league system for association football in Italy. It consists of nine national and regional tournaments, the first three being professional, while the remaining six are amateur, set up by the Italian Football Federation. Eccellenza Piedmont-Aosta Valley ( it, Eccellenza Piemonte-Valle d'Aosta) is the regional Eccellenza football division for clubs in the regions of Piedmont and Aosta Valley, Italy. Novi Ligure (; lij, Nêuve ; pms, Neuvi ) is a city and ''comune'' north of Genoa, in the Piedmont region of the province of Alessandria of northwest Italy. The town produces food, iron, steel, and textiles. It is an important junction for both road and railroad. History The community of ''Curtis Nova'' in 970 was donated by Emperor Otto I to the monastery of St. Salvatore in Pavia, becoming a castle around the year 1000. Novi was a free commune until 1157, when it fell to Tortona. It was handed over the marquis of Montferrat in 1223, returning briefly to Tortona in 1232–64. In 1353 Giovanni Visconti of Milan and Genoa conquered it. Novi was donated to the latter in 1392, but was occupied by the condottiero Facino Cane in 1409–12.
