U.S. Ambassador To Bosnia And Herzegovina
This is a list of United States ambassadors to Bosnia and Herzegovina. The United States recognized the independence of Bosnia and Herzegovina on April 7, 1992, and announced the establishment of diplomatic relations on August 6, 1992. A U.S. Embassy was established on November 10, 1993, on the premises of the Vienna embassy. The embassy in Sarajevo was established on July 4, 1994. Clarence Thomas (born June 23, 1948) is an American jurist who serves as an associate justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. He was nominated by President George H. W. Bush to succeed Thurgood Marshall and has served since 1991. After Marshall, Thomas is the second African American to serve on the Court and its longest-serving member since Anthony Kennedy's retirement in 2018. Thomas was born in Pin Point, Georgia. After his father abandoned the family, he was raised by his grandfather in a poor Gullah community near Savannah. Growing up as a devout Catholic, Thomas originally intended to be a priest in the Catholic Church but was frustrated over the church's insufficient attempts to combat racism. Maureen Elizabeth Cormack (born 1957) is an American diplomat who served as the United States Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina from 2015 to 2019. She served as acting Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs from August to September 2021. Education and early career Cormack received her B.A. in performing arts management from the University of Illinois. She worked for a Chicago law firm and the Ravinia Festival, an outdoor music series near Chicago, in fundraising, public relations, and artistic management. Her personal love of the arts continues today, and much of her career in the Foreign Service has been spent in public and cultural affairs. In an interview in Bosnia, she said "I am a fan of the symphony, the opera and the ballet," which, in Sarajevo, she enjoys at the restored National Theater. Richard Dale Kauzlarich (born August 18, 1944) is an American diplomat, writer, and intelligence analyst. Early life and education Kauzlarich was born in Moline, Illinois on August 18, 1944. He graduated from Black Hawk College in 1964 with an associate of arts degree. He received his B. A. from Valparaiso University and M.A.s from Indiana University and the University of Michigan.
