U.S. Route 2 In Idaho
U.S. Route 2 (US 2) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Idaho. It extends from the Washington state line and SH-41 in Oldtown, east to the Montana state line near Moyie Springs. Route description US 2 enters Idaho at the Washington state line in Oldtown, intersecting SH-41 at the state line. It heads east out of Oldtown, crossing the Pend Oreille River, and continues east to Priest River. In Priest River, it intersects SH-57, and continues east across the Priest River. It then continues east along the Pend Oreille River past a marker for the Seneacquoteen historic site. It then turns east and northeast along the river through Dover into Sandpoint, where it overlaps US 95. The overlapping highways then turn north into Ponderay, where they intersect SH-200 and continue north and northeast into Boundary County. State Highway 57 (SH-57) is a state highway located entirely within Bonner County in the Idaho Panhandle region of the U.S. state of Idaho. Newport is a city in and the county seat of Pend Oreille County, Washington, United States. The population was 2,126 at the 2010 census. History Newport was given its name in 1890 because it was selected as a landing site for the first steamboat on the Pend Oreille River. Newport was officially incorporated on April 13, 1903.
