Tóth (sometimes Tót or Toth) was an older term meaning " Slovak" or "Slavonian", since one of the Hungarian names for both Slovakia and Slavonia (Slavic parts of Kingdom of Hungary) was ''Tothorszag''. László Fejes Tóth
László Fejes Tóth ( hu, Fejes Tóth László, 12 March 1915 – 17 March 2005) was a Hungarian mathematician who specialized in geometry. He proved that a lattice pattern is the most efficient way to pack centrally symmetric convex sets on the Euclidean plane (a generalization of Thue's theorem, a 2-dimensional analog of the Kepler conjecture). He also investigated the sphere packing problem. He was the first to show, in 1953, that proof of the Kepler conjecture can be reduced to a finite case analysis and, later, that the problem might be solved using a computer. He was a member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (from 1962) and a director of the Alfréd Rényi Institute of Mathematics (1970-1983). Laszlo Toth
Laszlo Toth ( hu, Tóth László; born 1 July 1938) is a Hungarian-born Australian geologist. He achieved worldwide notoriety when he vandalised Michelangelo's ''Pietà'' statue on 21 May 1972. He was not charged with a criminal offence after the incident, but was hospitalized in Italy for two years. On his release, he was immediately deported to Australia. Early life Toth was born in Pilisvörösvár, Hungary, to a Roman Catholic family. After graduating in geology, in 1965 he moved to Australia. As his English was poor and his geology diploma was not recognized, he initially worked at a soap factory. In June 1971 he moved to Rome, Italy, knowing no Italian, intending to become recognized as Christ. He sent letters to Pope Paul VI and unsuccessfully attempted to meet him. Kálmán Tóth (poet)
Kálmán Tóth (1831–1881) was a Hungarian poet. He was born in Baja. The main theme of his poetry was love. He studied at the Franciscan Gymnasium (now Béla III High School) in Baja between 1839 and 1845. Tóth was the best student in his class. He was a novice for a short time, but then started to study law. He took part in the Hungarian Revolution of 1848. After the failure of the revolution, he tried to raise national self-confidence and to cherish the ideals of the revolution. He remembered its heroes in his poetry. He became the sub-editor of Ignác Nagy's (English: ''Ladies' Courier''). He was the accountable editor of it between 1856 and 1861. Kaleb Toth (born August 8, 1977) is a Canadian former professional lacrosse player. He played for the Toronto Rock and Calgary Roughnecks of the National Lacrosse League (NLL). He is now an assistant coach for the Vancouver Warriors of the NLL. Professional career Toth was the second overall draft pick in the 1999 NLL draft by the Toronto Rock and he played with them for two seasons. A game-winning goal by Toth in the last remaining second of play won the Rock their second straight Champion's Cup with a win over the Rochester Knighthawks in 2000. Juraj Tóth (born 28 March 1975) is a Slovak astronomer, discoverer of minor planets, and professor of astronomy at Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia. An expert in meteoroid fragmentation, he is known for his observations of the 1998 Leonid meteor shower from Modra Observatory, which were later published in the journal '' Earth, Moon, and Planets''. His photograph of the Leonid meteor shower was credited by NASA. Tóth is a member of the International Astronomical Union and currently a professor at Comenius University in the department of astronomy. Jaroslav "Jerry" Toth (15 November 1928 – 31 March 1999) was a Canadian saxophonist, clarinetist, flutist, arranger, composer, and record producer. Life and career Born in Windsor, Ontario, Toth was the son of violinist and cimbalom maker Carl Toth, the brother of musicians Rudy Toth and Tony Toth, and the brother-in-law of violinist and lyricist Josephine Toth.
