Tóth (sometimes Tót or Toth) was an older term meaning " Slovak" or "Slavonian", since one of the Hungarian names for both Slovakia and Slavonia (Slavic parts of Kingdom of Hungary) was ''Tothorszag''. László Fejes Tóth
László Fejes Tóth ( hu, Fejes Tóth László, 12 March 1915 – 17 March 2005) was a Hungarian mathematician who specialized in geometry. He proved that a lattice pattern is the most efficient way to pack centrally symmetric convex sets on the Euclidean plane (a generalization of Thue's theorem, a 2-dimensional analog of the Kepler conjecture). He also investigated the sphere packing problem. He was the first to show, in 1953, that proof of the Kepler conjecture can be reduced to a finite case analysis and, later, that the problem might be solved using a computer. He was a member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (from 1962) and a director of the Alfréd Rényi Institute of Mathematics (1970-1983). He received both the Kossuth Prize (1957) and State Award (1973). Together with H.S.M. Coxeter and Paul Erdős, he laid the foundations of discrete geometry. Ivett Tóth (born 20 December 1998) is a retired Hungarian figure skater. She is the 2014 CS Ice Challenge bronze medalist, a two-time Santa Claus Cup champion (2014, 2016), the 2018 Christmas Cup champion, the 2019 Volvo Open Cup champion, and a five-time Hungarian national (2014-2017, 2019). Gabriella Tóth (born 17 January 1988), also known as Gabi Tóth, is a Hungarian singer. She has been an ''X-Faktor'' mentor since 2013. Her sister, Vera Tóth, is also a Hungarian singer, who won the first season of ''Megasztár''. Life Tóth began her career in the Autumn of 2004 the second season of Megasztár, where she placed third and also achieved the best female artist prize for 2005. Juraj Tóth
Juraj Tóth (born 28 March 1975) is a Slovak astronomer, discoverer of minor planets, and professor of astronomy at Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia. An expert in meteoroid fragmentation, he is known for his observations of the 1998 Leonid meteor shower from Modra Observatory, which were later published in the journal '' Earth, Moon, and Planets''. His photograph of the Leonid meteor shower was credited by NASA. Tóth is a member of the International Astronomical Union and currently a professor at Comenius University in the department of astronomy. He is credited by the Minor Planet Center with the discovery and co-discovery of 16 numbered minor planets between 1998 and 2001. Béla Tóth (born 19 April 1943) is a Hungarian-born Italian chess player who holds the FIDE title of International Master (IM, 1974) and the ICCF title of Correspondence Chess Grandmaster (GM, 2004). He is a four-time Italian Chess Championship winner (1975, 1976, 1980, 1982), a Hungarian Chess Championship medalist (1971), a Chess Olympiad individual silver medalist (1976), and a European Correspondence Chess Championship winner (1973-78). Kálmán Tóth (poet)
Kálmán Tóth (1831–1881) was a Hungarian poet. He was born in Baja. The main theme of his poetry was love. He studied at the Franciscan Gymnasium (now Béla III High School) in Baja between 1839 and 1845. Tóth was the best student in his class. He was a novice for a short time, but then started to study law. He took part in the Hungarian Revolution of 1848. After the failure of the revolution, he tried to raise national self-confidence and to cherish the ideals of the revolution. He remembered its heroes in his poetry. He became the sub-editor of Ignác Nagy's (English: ''Ladies' Courier''). He was the accountable editor of it between 1856 and 1861. Árpád Tóth
Árpád Tóth (14 April 1886 – 7 November 1928) was a Hungarian poet and translator. Tóth went to Gymnasium (high school) in Debrecen and then studied German and Hungarian at the University of Budapest. In 1907, his poems began to appear in the papers A Hét and Vasárnapi Újság and after 1908 in Nyugat. In 1911, he became a theater critic for the paper Debreceni Nagy Újság. In 1913, he became a tutor to a wealthy family and received a little income from writing but still lived in poverty. Tuberculosis led him to rest at the Svedlér Sanitorium in the Tatra Mountains. During the period of the revolutionary government after World War I, he became secretary of the Vörösmarty Academy, but lost the position and couldn't find new work after the government's fall. He remained poor and sick with tuberculosis for the rest of his life, succumbing to the disease in Budapest in 1928.
