In the United Kingdom, passenger transport executives (PTEs) are local government bodies which are responsible for public transport within large urban areas. They are accountable to combined authorities, which were created between 2011 and 2016 and took the role of integrated transport authorities (ITAs). South Shields Interchange
South Shields Interchange is the Tyne and Wear Passenger Transport Executive ran transport hub which serves the coastal town of South Shields, South Tyneside in Tyne and Wear, England. History The station, which was originally located on Mile End Road, was opened on 2 June 1879 by the North Eastern Railway. It later became a part of the ''Tyneside Electrics''. It closed for conversion in June 1981, ahead of opening as part of the Tyne and Wear Metro network. Conversion work saw the station re-located about from the former British Rail station, with the construction of a new station on a bridge over King Street. The original Grade II listed station building, located near to Mile End Road, remained following conversion, but was demolished in the late 1990s after falling into disrepair. Park Lane is a Tyne and Wear Metro station, serving the port city of Sunderland in Tyne and Wear, England. It joined the network on 28 April 2002, following the opening of the extension from Pelaw to South Hylton. History The station is located below Park Lane Bus Station, which opened in May 1999, as a replacement for the former Sunderland Central Bus Station. Along with other stations on the line between Fellgate and South Hylton, the station is fitted with vitreous enamel panels designed by artist, Morag Morrison. Gateshead Interchange is a Tyne and Wear Metro station, serving the town of Gateshead in Tyne and Wear, England.
