Tyler Strafaci
Tyler Strafaci (born July 23, 1998) is an American professional golfer who attended Georgia Tech. In 2020, he won the U.S. Amateur Championship. Amateur career Strafaci was born in Davie, Florida. He graduated from American Heritage School in Plantation, Florida, winning the state championship in 2015. He was the No. 1 ranked amateur in Florida before enrolling at Georgia Tech in 2016. He reached the round of 32 at the U.S. Amateur in 2017, defeating future PGA Tour winner Matthew Wolff in the opening round. He made his PGA Tour debut in March 2018 at the Valspar Championship. He also qualified for the 2018 U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills. In 2020, Strafaci won the North and South Amateur in July. He then won the U.S. Amateur at Bandon Dunes in August, defeating SMU's Ollie Osborne 1 up in the 36-hole final. Davie is a town in Broward County, Florida, United States, approximately north of Miami. The town's population was 110,320 at the 2020 United States Census, 2020 census. Walker Cup
The Walker Cup is a golf trophy contested in odd-numbered years by leading male amateur golfers in two teams: United States, and Great Britain and Ireland. The official name is the Walker Cup Match (not "Matches" as in Ryder Cup Matches). It is organised by The R&A and the United States Golf Association (USGA). In 1921 the Royal Liverpool Golf Club hosted an unofficial contest which was followed by official annual contests from 1922 through 1924. From 1925 they became biennial, held on even-number years. After World War II they switched to odd-numbered years. They are held alternately in the U.S., and Ireland or Britain. The Open Championship, often referred to as The Open or the British Open, is the oldest golf tournament in the world, and one of the most prestigious. The Masters Tournament (usually referred to as simply The Masters, or the U.S. Masters outside North America) is one of the four major championships in professional golf. Frank Strafaci
Frank Strafaci (April 24, 1916 – February 19, 1988) was an American amateur golfer, who competed against the top amateurs of his time. He is remembered as one of Brooklyn's top amateur golfers. Career Strafaci was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He started his dominance on the amateur scene at Dyker Beach Golf Course in 1935 when he joined the Shoreview Golf Club. He won the U.S. Amateur Public Links in 1935. He won the Shoreview's Club Championship in 1936 and again in 1938. Over the next 15 years he dominated amateur golf in the area. He won the Long Island Golf Association Amateur Championship five times, the Metropolitan Amateur seven times, the North and South Amateur twice and the Richardson Invitational Championship twice. The Memorial Tournament is a PGA Tour golf tournament founded in 1976 by Jack Nicklaus. It is played on a Nicklaus-designed course at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio, a suburb north of Columbus.
