Tycoch
Tycoch (also written Ty-coch) is a suburban district of the City and County of Swansea in Wales. It is situated in the Sketty ward of the city, north-west of Sketty Cross. The area is chiefly residential. Housing around Carnglas Square is mostly pre-war, while that the higher ground at Llwyn Mawr dates from the 1970s onwards. Amenities There are several shops and other commercial premises in and around Carnglas Square (the junction of Carnglas Road, Harlech Crescent, and Ty-coch Road) including a sub post office, a newsagent, a computer shop, an Indian takeaway, and a wine bar / bistro, but no pub. There is also a pharmacy, a hairdresser for ladies and gents, a professional tuition centre, a print shop, a computer specialist shop, a tanning salon, a clothes clinic and cleaners. Swansea College
Swansea College was a further education college in Swansea. It was one of the largest further education colleges in Wales with over 15,000 students and employing approximately 1,000 staff. Swansea College merged with Gorseinon College on 20 August 2010 to create a single sixth form and further education college for the Swansea area called Gower College Swansea. Swansea College provided preparation for a number of qualifications, including GCSEs, the IB Diploma Programme, A-levels and HNDs, as well as a number of vocational courses leading to BTEC First and National Diplomas, NVQs and other similar qualifications. Sketty
The suburban district of Sketty ( cy, Sgeti) is about 2 miles (3.2 km) west of the Swansea city centre on Gower Road. It falls within the Sketty council ward of Swansea. It is also a community. Description The area approximates to the Vivian Road, and Sketty Green. The village is centred on Sketty Cross, which is the junction of Gower Road, Vivian Road, and Dillwyn Road. Directly on the cross, on the West Gower Road/Vivian Road junction, The Vivian pub, known as The Vivs, can be found. A second pub, The Bush, was immediately on the east side of this junction, but is now closed. In the immediate vicinity of Sketty Cross and the nearby Eversley Road, a variety of businesses can be found. There are many shops which include a launderette, two convenience stores, several hairdressers/barbers, a pharmacist, a series of cafes, and (formerly) a sub post office (which closed in 2020). Sketty ( cy, Sgeti) is the name of an electoral ward (coterminous with the Sketty community and suburb) in the City and County of Swansea, Wales, UK. The electoral ward is coterminous with the community. Description It is bounded to the following wards: north by Cockett, east by Uplands, south by the coast, southwest by Mayals and west by Killay North and Killay South. Cefn Coed Hospital
Cefn Coed Hospital ( cy, Ysbyty Cefn Coed) is a mental-health facility in Swansea, Wales. It is managed by the Swansea Bay University Health Board. History The hospital was designed by George Thomas Hine and Hallam Carter-Pegg using a compact arrow layout, and was officially opened by the Princess Royal as Swansea Mental Hospital in 1932. It was used as a casualty hospital during the Second World War. In 2002, the University of Wales Swansea reported that the hospital had to lock up patients due to understaffing. Cockett
Cockett ( cy, Y Cocyd) is a district and community (Wales), community in Swansea, Wales falling within Cockett (electoral ward), Cockett ward. It is located about north-west of Swansea city centre. It includes the eastern half of Gowerton. Cockett, in common with much of western Swansea, was the result of late Victorian and early twentieth century expansion.
