Ty Lund
Tyrone Orville Lund (March 31, 1938 – February 28, 2021) was a Canadian politician who served as Member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, representing the constituency of Rocky Mountain House (electoral district), Rocky Mountain House (now Rimbey-Rocky Mountain House-Sundre) as a Progressive Conservative Association of Alberta, Progressive Conservative until his defeat in 2012. Early life Lund was born on March 31, 1938, in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta. He was a third-generation farmer. Political career Prior to entering provincial politics, Lund was involved in municipal government. He served as a municipal councillor of the Municipal District of Clearwater for nine years, beginning in 1980. For the last four of those years, Lund was reeve. Rocky Mountain House
Rocky Mountain House is a town in west-central Alberta, Canada. It is approximately west of Red Deer at the confluence of the Clearwater and North Saskatchewan Rivers, and at the crossroads of Highway 22 (Cowboy Trail) and Highway 11 (David Thompson Highway). The surrounding Clearwater County's administration office is located in Rocky Mountain House. History The town has a long history dating to the 18th century with the presence of British and Canadian fur traders during the westward Canadian expansion. In 1799, the Hudson's Bay Company and the North West Company each established the Rocky Mountain House and Acton House fur trading posts. Trade with the local aboriginal peoples continued until 1821 when the companies merged, they continued to trade until 1875 and closed the Rocky Mountain House post. Rimbey, Alberta
Rimbey is a town in central Alberta, Canada. It is located at the junction of Highways 20 and 53 in the Blindman River valley area approximately northwest of Red Deer and southwest of Edmonton. Provincially, Rimbey is part of the Rimbey-Rocky Mountain House-Sundre electoral district and federally in the Wetaskiwin riding. History Officially made a community in 1902, the first name given to the settlement at the turn of the century was Kansas Ridge as many of the settlers originated from the American state of Kansas. Among them were the three Rimbey brothers (Sam, Ben, and Jim) for whom the town was officially named after in 1904. Rocky Mountain House was a provincial electoral district in Alberta, Canada, mandated to return a single member to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta from 1940 to 2012. History The district was one of 83 current districts mandated to return a single member to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta using the first past the post method of voting since 1959. Prior to that Single Transferable Vote was in use but no election went to a second count. The district which was located in central western rural Alberta was created from parts of four electoral districts in the 1940 boundary redistribution. John Murray Campbell
John Murray "Jack" Campbell (May 14, 1931 – December 21, 2021) was a provincial level politician from Alberta, Canada. He served as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta from 1979 to 1989. He was the younger brother professional ice hockey player, Don Campbell (ice hockey), Don Campbell. Political career Campbell ran for a seat to the Alberta Legislature in the 1979 Alberta general election. The Progressive Conservative Association of Alberta (often referred to colloquially as Progressive Conservative Party of Alberta) was a provincial centre-right party in the Canadian province of Alberta that existed from 1905 to 2020. The 2008 Alberta general election was held on March 3, 2008, to elect members of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta. It was expected to be called early because the governing Progressive Conservatives held a leadership election on December 2, 2006, in which Ed Stelmach was elected to replace Ralph Klein as party leader and Premier. The election was called when Stelmach formally advised Lieutenant Governor Norman Kwong to dissolve the Legislature, which happened on February 4, 2008. With 53% of the popular vote, the Progressive Conservatives won a decisive majority over the Liberal and other parties, despite early suggestions of a closer race.
