Twilight (1998 Film)
''Twilight'' is a 1998 American neo-noir thriller film directed by Robert Benton, written by Benton and Richard Russo, and starring Paul Newman, Susan Sarandon, Gene Hackman, Reese Witherspoon, Stockard Channing, and James Garner. The film's original score was composed by Elmer Bernstein. It received mixed reviews from critics and was a box office bomb, grossing $15.1 million against its $20 million budget. Plot Aging private detective Harry Ross, an ex-cop, is working on a case to return 17-year-old runaway Mel Ames to her parents' home. He tracks down Mel and her sleazy boyfriend, Jeff Willis, at a Mexican resort. During a struggle, Mel accidentally shoots Harry with his pistol, striking him in the upper thigh. Robert Benton
Robert Douglas Benton (born September 29, 1932) is an American screenwriter and film director. He is best known as the writer and director of the film ''Kramer vs. Kramer'', for which he won the Academy Award for Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay. He had previously written the screenplay (with David Newman) for the film ''Bonnie and Clyde''. Early life Benton was born in Waxahachie, Texas, the son of Dorothy (née Spaulding) and Ellery Douglass Benton, a telephone company employee. He attended the University of Texas and Columbia University. Career In 1959, he co-wrote the book ''The IN and OUT Book'' with Harvey Schmidt, published by The Viking Press. Frank Lloyd Wright (June 8, 1867 – April 9, 1959) was an American architect, designer, writer, and educator. He designed more than 1,000 structures over a creative period of 70 years. Wright played a key role in the architectural movements of the twentieth century, influencing architects worldwide through his works and hundreds of apprentices in his Taliesin Fellowship. The Dolores Del Rio House at 757 Kingman Avenue is a house in Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles, that was designed for the Mexican actress Dolores del Río and her husband, the production designer Cedric Gibbons, by Douglas Honnold and George Vernon Russell in 1929. The side of the house facing the street was likened by ''An Architectural Guidebook to Los Angeles'' to Art Deco with the rear of the house evoking the International Style. Gibbons designed the interiors of the house, replicating the Art Deco sets that he had created for MGM as a production designer. The house has four bedrooms and bathrooms over two storeys with two fireplaces and a large living room with exposed beams within of living space. John Lautner
John Edward Lautner (16 July 1911 – 24 October 1994) was an American architect. Following an apprenticeship in the mid-1930s with the Taliesin Fellowship led by Frank Lloyd Wright, Lautner opened his own practice in 1938, where he worked for the remainder of his career. Lautner practiced primarily in California, and the majority of his works were residential. Lautner is perhaps best remembered for his contribution to the development of the Googie style, as well as for several Atomic Age houses he designed in the late 1950s and early 1960s, which include the Leonard Malin House, Paul Sheats House, and Russ Garcia House.
