Tuvia Katz
Tuvia Katz (born 1936) is an Israeli artist. Tuvia Katz was born in Poland to a traditional family. To escape the Nazis, his family fled Europe and settled in Argentina. In 1960, Katz immigrated to Israel and settled on Kibbutz Hokuk. At the age of forty, he became religious and studied for the rabbinate. Katz is an abstract painter who creates faith-inspired art. He has won various prizes over the years. In 1979, he held a solo exhibition at the Israel Museum. Katz is the founder and head of the "Art and Faith" program at Mikhlelet Yerushalayim in Bayit Vegan, Jerusalem. He has three children and lives in Jerusalem. His daughter, Inbal, is married to Rabbi Eliezer Melamed, head of the Har Bracha yeshiva. Hukok ( he, חוּקוֹק) is a kibbutz in Israel. Located near the Sea of Galilee and the cities of Tiberias and Safed, it falls under the jurisdiction of Emek HaYarden Regional Council. In it had a population of . History In 1945, the Hukok fortress was built by Solel Boneh as a strategic settlement post and named after a biblical village (Joshua 19:34) in the north of Israel. After the 1948 war, the fortress was used as an absorption center for new immigrants. The kibbutz was established in 1946 by graduates of the Mikveh Israel agricultural school and members of the HaNoar HaOved VeHaLomed youth movement. It was near the Palestinian village of Yaquq and the site of the ancient village of Huqoq which was the supposed burial place of the prophet Habakkuk. Yaquq was later depopulated in 1948. Bayit VeGan ( he, בית וגן, lit. ''House and Garden'') is a neighborhood in southwest Jerusalem. Bayit VeGan is located to the east of Mount Herzl and borders the neighborhoods of Kiryat HaYovel and Givat Mordechai. History Bronze Age A 4,000-year-old cemetery and many Canaanite artifacts were discovered in an archeological dig at the edge of Bayit Vagan. The cemetery covers an area of more than half an acre (0.2 hectare), and burials are believed to have taken place there mainly in the Bronze Age, in 2200-2000 BCE and 1700-1600 BCE. Excavations began in 1995 but the most interesting finds were discovered in 2005. Eliezer Melamed ( he, אליעזר מלמד, born 28 June 1961) is an Israeli Orthodox Zionist rabbi and the rosh yeshiva of Yeshivat Har Bracha, rabbi of the community Har Bracha, and author of the book series ''Peninei Halakha''. Biography Eliezer Melamed is the son of Rabbi Zalman Baruch Melamed, a student of Rabbi Zvi Yehuda Kook. Melamed's first name is the result of a dream Kook had on the occasion of his birth. Melamed attended classes given by Kook from age fifteen to twenty, and, like his father, considers Kook to be his most significant rabbi. Melamed is married to Inbal, daughter of the artist Tuvia Katz, and has thirteen children. Har Brakha ( he, הַר בְּרָכָה, ''lit.'' Mount fBlessing) is an Israeli settlement located on the southern ridge of Mount Gerizim at an elevation of above sea level, in the West Bank's Samarian mountains, near the Palestinian city of Nablus.
