Climate History The founding Supervisor of Tuscola township was O. C. Hackett, who was elected in 1868. Hackett was elected Supervisor with a majority of only one vote over W. B. Ervin. O. C. Hackett was the grandson of noted Kentucky frontiersman and Boonsborough resident Peter Hackett. O. C. planted Hackett's Grove, a sassafras grove situated on Section 31, Township 16, Range 9, on the east side of the township. This grove is traversed by a branch of Scattering Fork of the Embarrass River, long known as Hackett's Run. Tuscola County is a county in the Thumb region of the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2020 census, the population was 53,323. The county seat is Caro. The county was created by Michigan Law on April 1, 1840, from land in Sanilac County and attached to Saginaw County for administrative purposes. The Michigan Legislature passed an act on March 2, 1850, that empowered the county residents to organize governmental functions. Tuscola County is one of five counties in the Thumb area. Like the rest of the thumb, Tuscola County enjoys seasonal tourism from cities like Flint, Detroit and Saginaw. History The name Tuscola was a neologism created by Henry Schoolcraft and had an aboriginal root. Tuscola Township is a civil township of Tuscola County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 2,082 at the 2010 Census. The city of Vassar is to the northeast and incorporates some land from the survey township that forms the basis for the present civil township. History The township was established in 1840 as a township of Saginaw County and encompassed all of Tuscola County, which had been created by an Act of the Michigan Legislature on April 1, 1840, from land in Sanilac County and attached for administrative purposes to Saginaw County. Tuscola High School
Tuscola High School is a public senior high school located in Waynesville, North Carolina, United States, about 30 miles (48 kilometers) west-southwest of Asheville. Tuscola High School succeeded the original Waynesville Township High School during the 1966 consolidation that merged Fines Creek and Crabtree High Schools with Waynesville. The school was built in the Tuscola community of East Waynesville, near Lake Junaluska and was named after the community in which it was built. Tuscola is a Cherokee word that means "Digging in Many Places". The school's mascot is a Mountaineer and the school colors are black and gold.
