Turkish Brigade
The Turkish Brigade (code name ''North Star''; tr, Şimal Yıldızı or ''Kutup Yıldızı''''Kutup Yıldızı – Kore Savaşı'nın 50. Yıldönümü'' (''"North Star: the 50th Anniversary of the Korean War"'', TRT İzmir, Director: Ismail Ragıp Geçmen, 2000)) was an infantry brigade of the Turkish Army that served under United Nations Command during the Korean War (1950–1953). Turkey was one of 22 countries to contribute manpower to U.N. forces, and one of sixteen to provide military personnel. The first 5,000 troops of the Turkish Brigade arrived on 19 October 1950, shortly after the outbreak of hostilities in June, and remained in varying strengths until summer 1954. Attached to the U.S. 25th Infantry Division, the Turkish Brigade was the only U.N. unit of its size permanently attached to a U.S. division throughout the Korean War. Tahsin Yazıcı
Tahsin Yazıcı () (1892 in Bitola, Monastir – February 11, 1971 in Ankara) was an Ottoman Army (1861–1922), Ottoman Army officer and later a Turkish Army general and politician. Biography He was born to his father Ali Bey and his mother Ganimet Hanım in Bitola, Monastir, Ottoman Empire (present-day Bitola, North Macedonia) in 1892. He was recorded in Kefçedede wards, Üsküdar District of Istanbul Province. He entered the Ottoman Military Academy in Istanbul, Turkey on November 1, 1909, and graduated from the academy as second lieutenant on March 1, 1912. After graduation, he served during the First World War in Gallipoli Campaign, Gallipoli and he was promoted to the rank of lieutenant on March 1, 1916. He then served during the Turkish War of Independence and was promoted to the rank of captain on October 10, 1920. In 1925, he participated in quelling the Sheikh Said rebellion. Ayaş, Ankara
Ayaş is a town and district of Ankara Province in the Central Anatolia region of Turkey, 58 km from the city of Ankara which is very rich for historical monuments.
