The Turin Civic Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art (Italian - ''Galleria civica d'arte moderna e contemporanea di Torino'' or ''GAM Torino'') is an art gallery in Turin, Italy, founded in 1891-1895 and located in 31 via Magenta. With the MAO ( Museo d'arte orientale), Palazzo Madama e Casaforte degli Acaja (Museo civico d'arte antica), the Borgo and the Rocca medioevali, it forms part of the Fondazione Torino Musei. The lower rooms house important reviews and a large collection of video art. It houses the city's permanent collections of 19th and 20th century art, which consist of over 47,000 paintings, sculptures, art installations and pieces of video art. Medardo Rosso (; 21 June 1858 – 31 March 1928) was an Italian sculptor. He is considered, like his contemporary and admirer Auguste Rodin, to be an artist working in a Post Impressionism, post-Impressionist style. Charles (Carlo) Francesco Bassi (12 November 1772, Turin – 11 November 1840, Turku) was a Finnish architect of Italian descent. He was the first professionally trained architect who permanently worked in present-day Finland. He worked, both as an independent architect and as an official responsible for planning new churches, in a Neoclassical style. Life Charles Bassi was the brother of ballet dancer Giovanna Bassi and came with her from present-day Italy to Sweden in 1783. Initially, he was employed by the Swedish King Gustav III as a page but started studying architecture at the Royal Swedish Academy of Arts in Stockholm in 1784.
